Im in nyc too and see alot of younger people rockin it. Its obnoxious,so of course kids love it.

This is exactly what I was going to say. Look at Mahomes and look at a number of popular NBA and MLB guys. They are all rocking this style of hair.....hence the youth will follow suit.
 
Looks like one dude shaved his pubes over the top of another bitch's head. It's pathetic. And when it gets really long, they look like Sideshow Bob.
