What's a good can/jar spaghetti sauce?

I dont really pay attention to what brand the sauce is, im going to be adding seasoning to it anyway, but i usually will go for one with garlic.

Michael's of Brooklyn by a long shot. It's just really expensive. For decent everyday sauce I buy the organic Clasico from Costco.

I'm a home canner. I've canned my own sauce a few times, and it's always way better than store bought. The problem is that it takes a lot of work and product to can enough to make it worth your while. A 25 pound case of Roma tomatoes will get you just a few quarts of sauce. Processing that many tomatoes and other accoutrements takes a big chunk of the day. Also, unless you get a great deal on some tomatoes or grow a shit ton of your own, it's an expensive endeavor to make tomato sauce. Just buy that fucking Ragu man.

I buy Ragu and Prego and don't have complaints.

After you boil the pasta save half a cup or so of the pasta water as you strain it out.

Add the pasta back to the pot, add the some or all of the starchy water you saved depending on how much pasta you got, then add the sauce and stir for like a 30-60 seconds on low heat.

The starchy water will bind the sauce to the pasta so it sticks to it while you eat it and you don’t end up with most of the sauce at the bottom of your plate and not in your belly.

works with all pasta sauces.

I usually go for a jar of San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes and hit them with the immersion blender and add the seasonings. Props for taking it to another level.

Im buying a big pot and spaghetti strainer

I'm not a cook, but I think I can boil pasta

What's a delicious store bought canned or jarred spaghetti sauce?

So I just boil the pasta, drain the water, add in the spaghetti sauce? Do I add salt and pepper? Sausages? Mushrooms? I think I saw a spaghetti sauce can that said it already has mushrooms in it

Any other tips? Im new to cooking

Fresh is best. Add fresh tomatoes, fresh garlic, fresh mushrooms, fresh onions to any store bought sauce. Use a good quality Parmesan or Regiano.

Always toss the sauce through the pasta, use a little pasta water to finish the sauce.

I like to finish mine with some toasted pine nuts and extra virgin olive oil and a glass of red wine

Never boiled pasta, only Ramen.
Serious question: Did you just get out of prison?

Anyway, my two faves are Rao's and Mezzetta.

Jeez, it takes almost no effort to whip up a quick scratch sauce. Couple cans of petite diced tomatoes, some tomato paste, some onion and garlic, and you're there.
I think this is way too involved for a new cook. But I agree, it's easy and tastes better. I also like green bellpepper and basil in my homemade sauce

Raos is amazing and pretty healthy too. I make spaghetti every week.

1 pound of ground bison to go in sauce
Olive oil for boiling noodles
Thin spaghetti noodles
Raos sauce
A bunch of garlic
A handful of spinach

Also, get a dry aged Parmesan cheese.

I dont use a typical spaghetti sauce as I add a lot of stuff on my own.

My base sauce however is this....

I'll dice up celery, shrooms, peppers, onion, garlic. Ill take half the onions and garlic and sautee it with the veggies. The other half I use for the ground beef/meatballs which gets cooked up. Then mix it all together and add the sauce.

What's a good brand of spaghetti sticks? There's like a million of em at the store

This is my go to one of few that don't give me crazy heartburn and it's very good.

I make a pretty simple spaghetti/pasta i usually use macaroni noodles but still just call it spaghetti. lol All i do is chop up a green pepper, some mushrooms and sometimes an onion. I always use ground beef and i cook all of those things in with the ground beef (make sure to strain out the fat when done) add whatever seasonings you like then when done just add in the sauce and noodles..

Buy a quality marinara sauce like Rao's and brown 1lb of ground beef. Combine. There's your meat sauce and it's delicious.
