I don't think he needs to retire. His bad run has a lot to do with his competition, and he was pretty competitive with Burgos. He needs a softball matchup, but he's still got some left in the tank.

I used to train at a gym in San Diego and was friendly with the guy who subbed Cub in 15 seconds. I wanted to spar him but he didn't seem interested. I think he was afraid to be shown up by an amateur boxer.

He fought 2 months ago and lost a split decision to Shane Burgos. Maybe a little rest and reset because he is on a 4 fight losing streak.

He's not a top contender anymore but he's still a capable fighter and one of the more entertaining guys to watch. There are fun fights for him still and he adds a lot of value to any card. It's not like he's getting KO'd either.

Look at this next card, with no names on the main card. Much rather see Cub fight than most of these guys.
