What would happen if scoring was announced between rounds?

The Ortega topic got me thinking, in what way would things change if fighters knew exactly where they were on the scorecards between round?

More headhunting? Less coast-to-a-safe-UD-oh-shit-i-got-robbed?

Two way street. What about the times the rounds are very close and fighters arent sure if they are winning or losing on the scorecards. In your scenario they might now find out they are up 2-0. Are they going to fight harder or safer in the next round? Realistically it will do this just as often as it does what you are suggesting. That doesnt mean its a bad idea, only that it wont serve to create less coasting.

I'd prefer to know what the fk is going on but for the most part fighters and corners already know if they are up and down. We bitch a lot but the majority of decisions are right on the money

at least it would let the fighters properly gameplan in the corner, maybe the mystery of it all has value but with judging being so horrible... I can literally see a round ending and a riot starting or the fight getting interupted (by dana white throwing judges out the arena)... i honestly dont think MMA fans are mature enough for scoring to be visible

I like the idea it will force the actiom

Nick Diaz would win more rounds in the 2-4.
That and riots.

FIghters that are ahead in the points will coast.

Fighters that are behind on points will go for broke whereas fighters ahead will try to coast to a decision.

I don't see what harm it would do. I'd like to know if the official score cards jive with mine during a fight.

I doubt we will ever see it though.

I think the fan's perspective is going to be one thing, but the reality in the eyes of competitors is that some fighters are not judging/being told of how the fight is going as they're fighting, and often will themselves to get through the third round through exhaustion/dehydration on the ignorance of if they're winning the fight on points (or delusion that they might be winning, if they're clearly not).

I think you'll see a lot more towels thrown in between the second and third rounds if fighters know they're going to lose the decision, and have nothing more for their opponent.

They should surreptitiously tell the losing fighter's corner that they are behind in points so they can relay it to the fighter. The winning fighter would not be told anything because they should never assume that they are ahead on the score cards.

Or would this be considered bias?

It is fine the way it is now. No need for more distractions or things that can influence a fighter. Why allow for more mental bullshit to impact a fighter while they are trying to compete.

Thats ok in my book. He will have to coast against a guy who knows he needs a 10-8 round to draw or a finish to win. Also, that fighter earned the won rounds

I would like for score to be given between rounds but not sure how the dynamic would work of the judges influencing each other in this case. With most successful sports u know where u stand tho ( usually by points being displayed on a scoreboard for all to see)

It would be good if the camera got to view the scorecards between rounds but it wasn't broadcast in the arena, would lead to fewer laughably terrible decisions. Then again if anyone can see it at home then they could just text it to the fighter's trainer. Damn technology :|

Nah, keep it the way it is.

Fighters should be going for the finish regardless.

Yeah, that's the other obvious side of the coin.

I don't necessarily think it would be straight up better, but I can think of some scenarios where it might make things a little more interesting.

You would have to implement it like a wrestling match. You get stalling a warning when you try to avoid exchanges, and if you get say, 3 stalling warnings, you get a point deducted.

Would be better than corner men straight up lying telling their fighters they are clearly winning (looking at the diaz corner for the condit fight)

What would happen? More guys would go for broke in the final round.
