I recently studied 1917 for a professional/personal project and really felt connected and informed about the era. I wonder what society will be like in 100 years? I'm considering how areas such as the family unit, work, technology, recreation, environment, laws, war and international relations and for lack of a more professional term "robot advancement" amongst other areas will advance or regress.

What's the world going to be like in 2118?

Hopefully someone bumps this thread when it's 2118.

I'm still gonna have this Randy AV up. I'm going to pass down my accounts to my children.

Isn't it weird that the crap we post on sherdog could very well outlive us all? Not necessarily on this site, since the site could shut down at some point, but the info we post here will be online somewhere, for many years after we're all gone.

I wouldn't say it's weird. Words on paper have been outliving man for years. The only real difference is the words are on computers.

It's already outlived a lot of Sherdog brothers.

I'd love to pass my user name and AV on to my son, but it's an acquired taste and if he didn't keep it up forever I would roll over in my grave

Is sherdog really that stupid that you need to put 2118 in brackets as if people needed help to know the year 100 years from now ?

you'll be able to buy dildos at the mall

- Global Currency
- Global passport
- no colonization of the moon or Mars.
- Autonomous cars, but no flying cars.
- All packaging will be biodegradable.
- Education will become more "team based learning" from an earlier age.
- Skirmishes will be fought with 101010101010001010110100101010 rather than bullets.
- English will be a more global language with countries offering more universities with english curriculum.
- The economy will still be resource based (minerals, rare metals, etc)
- The oceans will still be dirty
- populations will become more urbanized. In theory, that means people will walk more. However, they still use personal vehicles or public transport to get basic errands done. Thus, we still will be overweight.
- More acting based entertainment (movies, TV, skits, etc.) less dependence of sports based entertainment for the masses.
- Video games/VR will be the norm.
- Families will get smaller. Divorce rates will go down, but married couples living apart will be more common (i.e. see you on the weekend, Honey).
- Hologram phones.

Anything you post will literally outlive mankind. There will not be a human alive when your online posts become unreadable.

Where I live (Boston), the city has done a prediction study of what the coastline will look like in 100-years and it's NOT pretty. I'm extremely concerned about even the near-term viability of my city. For example even the latest snowstorm we had caused pretty extensive flooding. As the sea level continues to rise, it's going to get worse and worse. Even high tides can cause flooding in downtown now. In 50 years or so my house is a few feet from the ocean and I'm not particularly near the beach.

I'm very sad about the future of my favorite city in the world.

too many people, extreme weather, water shortages.

I'd say.

Sex dolls are commonplace which means I was born in totally the wrong era.

You'll be able to check out the internet on your phone.

Rich people living in Mars while the filthy peasants are living in Earth.

We're spiraling back down into another dark ages, our society and culture hit it's peak in the 1990's and we've been on a downward spiral since then. 100 years from now we will be well on our way back to square 1 with no recollection of our history, writing, science, all lost after a series of wars, plagues, catastrophe. I mean, we seriously have kids on the internet now eating fucking laundry detergent packets and believing the world is flat, it's like the internet is making everyone stupider somehow.

This whole society we live in today that depends on gas and oil is going to collapse hard over the next 100 years, a lot of starving people, a lot of war, everything will go backwards but will be more extreme than it was in the past.

Also predict that religion becomes much more powerful over the next 100 years. I think in 100 years you will see people jailed and executed for not believing in god or for being gay or doing something that the bible says you aren't supposed to do. Motherfuckers are going crazy over this shit these days in the southern USA and I think it's something that is going to get even more extreme over the next few decades.

I've written like 6 checks this month and I'm pretty sure I dated 2017 on all of them

In 2118 checks will largely be replaced by cards that are linked to your bank account
