Similiar to Conor's first loss? I know GSP lost to Hughes as well. All hating aside, you can't really deny that Conor has some great skills, although he has holes on the ground. GSP is a good example where any fighter can come back from a loss and remain dominant.. almost unbeatable aura despite his previous losses. He fucking tapped to strikes to Matt Serra and still overtime was able to regain himself. He didn't lose in his early career, he lost in his mid-UFC career. I see a lot of haters here coming out the woodwork and claiming "Conor is done" etc... I wouldn't write him off just yet. That was an amazing fight vs Diaz. Conor's next fight will be very telling, and as with all his fights, I'm sure everyone here (including you haters) will be excited to watch.

I'd rather know how your reaction was when Conor got bitch slapped around the octagon after being so sure Conor was going to beat Nate. You where one of the more vocal nuthuggers.

I think Conor is different from GSP here. Conor to me is only in this game to get rich quick. I think he will retire if he loses a few fights and doesn't make the big money anymore.

GSP was also the complete package when he lost to Serra. Conor has a massive flaw in his ground game. He'd need to work extensively to fix it.

Another thing is Conor is willing to step way out of his comfort zone. GSP stayed at WW and remained there. Conor will do something crazy if he wins a couple of fights. He has more of a BJ Penn mentality.

Well I was high af so it was pretty crazy. Conor looked pretty damn good but I watched him fade after throwing all those power punches to finish Nate. Nate then came alive and broke him at the absolute perfect moment. Insane fight. Probably one of the best I've ever seen. And then we had Tate choking Holm unconscious before that? It was a crazy night..

Not going to lie. It was a good fight with two good boxers by MMA standards. I enjoyed the head movement displayed by both guys.

Shock. This one wasnt that shocking.

I guess i was a bit suprised at how shitty Conors cardio was.

Imagine his cardio at 145 lol. All Frankie has to do is to survive round 1.

They wont give him Frankie tho.

Great fight though. Mcg always comes to fight.

The Serra lost was more shocking because there was no paths to victory for Serra. He was a BJJ guy and he finished a striker with strikes.

Never thought I'd see you mention GSP in a thread without bashing the shit out of him.

Conor's nuts must be adhesive on one side

Sherdog and MMA wasn't as big back then. Meme's weren't a huge thing. Many people discredit Anderson win over Lutter, but what they forget is that Lutter only got the shot for the same reason as Serra. They won TUF 'The Comeback'.

People diss that loss, but Serra isn't a bad fighter. Serra is actually legit. For GSP, it redefined him, and he actually became huge as a result of that fight. He wasn't that big before hand.

For Conor, he's young enough that he can bounce back from this fight and regain an unbeatable aura, but he would have to beat Diaz… There is no way around that. In this case though, Diaz is a much tougher rematch than Serra was for GSP [Maybe Conor will add some new strings to his bow? He has the right attitude].

Even Serra himself did not believe that

GSP's demeanor lessened the negative impact. Conor's bravado and showmanship has made him more polarizing and easier to talk shit on.

Serra caught GSP with a good shot and finished him. In the rematch Serra was a huge underdog; everyone knew he kind of lucked out in the first fight and nobody held it against GSP.

Conor just got beaten up by Diaz. There was no "puncher's chance" type finish or anything, Diaz just beat the hell out of him and made it clear who was better.

No GSP had a following of decent hard working fans not a bunch of drunk casuals who get bored if the fight last longer than 30 seconds and start trying to lick their own balls

GSP has never had an aura of invincibility - then or now.

Even during his championship streak, the feeling was always that he did "just enough" to persuade the judges.

That is not the same as the way McGregor was going through opponents.

There is no way Conor would have coasted against a guy with a broken orbital like GSP did against Koscheck.

GSP got caught and finished by a lesser fighter.

Conor was beaten by a better and more complete fighter.

LOL comparing GSP to Connor while all the threads shitting on aldo for months after his loss

"GSP was never that good and is overrated". This is pretty much the standard reaction to any fighter losing.

Wrong!! When GSP destroyed Hughes in the rematch the MMA world had crowned it's new king and he was going to reign for many years to come..

Just enough indeed. Including winning such razor thin decisions such as a 50-43 against Fitch. So close Jon..
