Every title win has a caveat or was extremely close. The Cejudo win had both.

if he would have just said, "hey yall, give it up for Cejudo, dudes a warrior and it was a close fight, could have gone either way," it would have done so much better for him. but he can't read a room, doesn't understand how he got there, and is cocky, following close ass fights where the fans and his hometown think he lost. thats it. be more humble. respectful. grateful. its hard for aljo fans to see this, but literally everyone else can see it. hilarious.

People still hold it against him that he won the title by getting blasted by an illegal knee. Then while he’s been getting good wins and building a good resume, he hasn’t done so in the most impressive way which has only fueled the hate and made people call it all into question. I think he deserves more recognition but probably isn’t going to happen.

Because he hasn't made up for the DQ acting win. Everyone who is new to mma will hear about that first when aljo is brought up.

He needs to keep winning in increasingly less likely scenarios and remain completely oblivious to how fortunate he has been. Like someone breaks their leg kicking him, faceplants during a TD attempt, or breaks their hand punching him. Something like KOing Font in a brawl would be shocking. I would love it if he just waxed O'Malley with an overhand right off a fake shot or if he choked someone like Umar out cold via guillotine. I want to remember his reign as an incredulously confident guy with a horseshoe up his ass who kept finding way to win in the face of all adversity. The guy who never should have been champion who won fights he had no business winning in ways that shouldn't have been possible.

Some of those are bullshit though. All his haters said Yan would DECIMATE him, and then he won via DQ. Then they said he'd get wrecked in the rematch. people clamoured for it. Then they bawled their eyes out as he backpacked Yan in the rematch and did not, in fact, get outclassed. They're just mad he proved them wrong and that he belonged with the BW best.
