What kind of success can Max have that Edson couldn't achieve?

Max is awesome but I don't see him having much more success than Edson. If he doesn't get some kind of miracle KO out of nowhere then how is he not going to get dragged down just as fast as Edson? I would have rather seen Tony fight. This division is so fucked.

I feel that both fighters will try to win the fight

He can catch khabib on the feet, but that is very unlikely. What probably will happen is a 5 round ground and pound beatdown of max.

if you put a gun to my head and I had to pick a fresh barboza vs a fresh Holloway?

I honestly think I would pick barboza. (at 55 of course)

as far as khabib goes.......conor took Holloway down with 1 leg.

This ...only worse

How are people making comparisons of Edson and Max?

They are both high level strikers that prefer to stay on the feet. Yeah Max is more of the boxer but again....how is he going to have more success than Edson? Is he supposed to be harder to take down?

hes a better boxer.

Can throws straights through the guard.

Barboza only seems to throw loops which Khabib just blocks by keeping his guard up.

Opposite for the last part. Khabib dodges most looping punches and blocks straights with his shoulder and arm when possible.

...I spent a lot of time studying his defense.

Max got them hands, Barboza got them feets, feets are slower and less accurate. So that I guess

I do too

As you can see, he steps back (or dodge as you call it) when MJ throws loops and he also has his guard up and blocks many loops with his guard protecting him from the left over hads.

With straights though.... he never blocks it with his shoulders and MJ connected on him a lot with straights.

Barboza is powerful but a stiff mechanical fighter lacking elusive movement. Just like Aldo and RDA. Holloway is much better in that regard.

That being said, Khabib is gonna be too big and strong for him I think.

Khabib will get him down and break him down. Max's best hope is to hang tough for a few rounds and then make a comeback if Khabib starts to gas.

Nah, Edson has better TDD than Max.

Better boxing, better cardio and he has 5 rounds

Max needs to land something big early though because his TDD won't hold up long

That is one fight among 25 dude (not even the entire fight).

Look at the Edson fight. Khabib ducks almost every looping shot that gets thrown at him. Ducking and moving in is almost always his first response to looping shots.

Also in the MJ fight he ducks a hook to land his first TD. You failed to bring that one up buddy.

im not saying your wrong about him sliping loops. He also uses his high guard to negate whatever the opponent is throwing. He has many lines of defenses. If his defensive footwork doesn't do the job, he relies on his dodging, or his high guard depending on the opponent.

You're blind if you think he doesn't block loops with his high guard.

I do think he's open to the straights though. Haven't seen much of his shoulder defense as you mentioned. I guess maybe he did it against orthodox fighters who throw straights.... that would make sense.

Max's biggest weapon is his hand, Edson's is his kicks which require more space

It would be a lot easier for Max to catch Khabib in those short spaces when Khabib rushes forward

Probably not gonna happen tho
