So , over the weekend in my town a woman was out for her morning run and was plowed over by a 23 year old shit stain of a person and left for dead in a drainage ditch. I know her casually as one of her kids is in my kids preschool class, and also she is an equine vet and takes care of my parents horses. We both walked in at the same time on Friday, she was trying to wrangle her 2 boys.....arms full of stuff. The whole fucked up situation , and the stark reminder of the cold indifference of random circumstances that life sometimes dishes out has been consuming my thoughts to be honest.

I get it man , people get scared and panic when something like this happens, but I can't think of anything much lower than leaving a fellow human being (that you just mangled) for dead in order to weasel outta taking responsibility for it. Just makes me sick that we all have to share space with people like this.

Anyway, she's in bad shape, apparently she just started breathing on her own last night . Her husband is a swat detective and their 2 boys are 2 and 4 , and I can't help but imagine what it's like staring this situation in the face. If anyone feels inclined to help I've attached the go fund me that was started on her behalf . Thanks guys .

Yeah, they caught him within 24 hrs.....hopefully he gets a few years to think about it .

Fuck, the problem is whether he gets time or not doesn't really help her. Maybe some dough from his car insurance, (if he had any) That's about it.

Anyway enough of me being dumb. Back to your story. Agree man. Panicking only should last for a few minutes until you realize someone is dying or very hurt. Not an excuse especially for a 23 year old.

Lol, not rich , my dads an electrician.

I agree man , at what point does self preservation override compassion? I guess it's different for everyone and this guy was on the cowardly end of the scale.

It did a considerable amount of damage to the car , knocked parts off , and they were able to determine make/ model and then someone locally called in a " tip" . They arrested him at home late Sunday with the car sitting the driveway.
 
Terrible that this happened, though it is of some small comfort that the offender was caught.

Oddly enough, my electrician has a horse, too. Suggested it to me, actually. Says it's the surest way to keep your teenage daughter out of trouble: No time for boys and no money for drugs.
 
It sucks that whatever punishment that stupid kid gets doesnt actually help that lady ... and im all for self awareness thru Love and not violence nor punishment.
But im a radical in many ways , and i trully believe that unfortunatly there are many people that are just a pure waste of oxygen.
Of course its easy for me to say this , but if i was that lady´s husband i would probably make the community a favour and make sure that stupid young man wasnt a waste of oxygen any longer ... but i wouldnt do it for the community sake tho
