Can't believe Wiki is winning when it doesn't have a page for 90% of fighters. Do people really need to remind themselves who Kamaru Usman is?

When Conor loses the fanbois can just edit it to say he won to feel better about their bitter bum selves. :D

Wiki for the last 15 years or so lol, but recently started using Sherdog because I'm so fucking tired of scrolling through their shitty life stories to get to the record plus sherdog neatly shows the upcoming fight at the top very visibly

Tapology for me, worldwide, comprehensive and includes weights, amateur fights etc. there'll always be errors and omissions of course.

Usually I wait until @JayPettryMMA has had a chance to dive into their record and then I check FightFinder once I know it's legit.

I'm a sucker for online databases, but I can't help but admire your approach. Looking at online records really gives the wrong story sometimes. I've seen so many fighters that seemed like killers on paper and vice versa only to turn out much different than their record indicated. There is always more to the story than the record books.
Alessio Sakara and Goran Reljic did this to me. I now watch at least a prospects last three fights before I make any assumptions about what I know.

LOL I'm glad someone else feels my pain with Wiki

Wiki lists title fights, weight misses overturned fights and post fight bonuses. None of the others have those details

I was all about Fight Finder for quite some time. As my enthusiasm waned, I starting relying on Wikipedia instead. So, when I look up a record, which is not often, it is on Wiki.

I like Wikipedia, you can read all the info on the fighter as well.

I love Tapology but they need to open tab settings where we can shift between the different sports the fighters compete in. It sucks when you see a bunch of wins and losses on fighters records from other sports while trying to locate their MMA record.
Now that this option exists (I had honestly forgotten that it wasn't around in 2022), is Tapology you go-to?

I used to be a Sherdog + wikipedia guy, but wikipedia is very often late to update records, and sometimes just give up on a fighter and don't bother updating his record anymore...

The one thing that Sherdog still has over Tapology, is that Sherdog is more selective about what they announce as "real MMA bouts".
Sure, there are still some obviously fake fights in there, like Sakuraba vs Kimo, Mark Coleman vs Takada, Don Frye vs Mark Hall 3, or Olger Tagtarov vs Anthony "Mad Dog" Macias, but I'm not talking about those.

I'm talking about old fights in Pancrase or something that were obviously fake, but that Tapology counts as legit, while Sherdog doesn't bother putting them in.
Look at Volk Han's record on both websites and you'll see what I mean.
Dude is 51-19 on Tapology, and 21-8-1 on Sherdog

Preeeetty sure Sherdog is more accurate.

Still, Tapology is my go-to thanks to the great interface, and the fact that they add pro-grappling bouts, kickboxing/muay thai bouts, boxing bouts (and they always give a link to) amateur bouts (MMA, boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, etc)

If I'm checking what Datsik has been up to in the last couple years, considering that since 2022 he's fought in MMA, kickboxing, pro-boxing, exhibition boxing, modified rulecage boxing,
(and they don't have the full boxing record they always link to Boxrec for a more complete look at their career)
Considering that Sherdog is only about MMA, it's not perfect for my particular tastes

And wikipedia is sometimes lagging far behind, especially for lesser known fighters, so it's a good supplement, buuut...

Oh buddy, when they did that, let me tell you...I was not amused. Basically anything that happened with RINGS before about 97-98 was a shoot, give or take small exceptions.

I am not a fan of rewriting history, like flagging some of those old fights (Takada-Coleman) or removing other ones that shouldn't be there in the first place (Herring-Nakao). It's our beautiful, horrible, shiny, busted up history, and I'm not going to sanitize it.
