What is your favorite act/residency concert to watch in Vegas?

Apparently the most successful is A New Day by Celine Dion, or Celine by Celine Dion. Anyone seen either of those? Both are in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil. Does Cirque du Soleil have a virtual monopoly on in Vegas? And boy did they do a lot of those shows. Celine Dion must be exhausted.

What do you call the people that perform in those Cirque style shows? Do they have a special school for that? Are they like the people that do the killer whale shows in Seaworld? I hear those are just kids plucked off the street.

What are some great shows in Vegas? I was in Vegas like four weeks ago. I did not get to see nuttin. I plan on going back though.

I've seen one Vegas show in my whole life, but it was good. Carrot Top.

"What do you call the people that perform in those Cirque style shows?"

Circus Performers

"Do they have a special school for that?"

Yes, they're called Circus Schools. Cirque Du Soleil circus performers often were trained at the National Circus School in Canada.

"Are they like the people that do the killer whale shows in Seaworld?"

No, those are called Animal Trainers

"Does Cirque du Soleil have a virtual monopoly on in Vegas?" There are other circus acts in Vegas, but Cirque Du Soleil is the most recognized and the most popular, by far.

Penn & Teller is pretty good. Out of the Cirque shows I probably liked O the best and Ka the least.

Bump

Anyone seen A New Day or Celine? I have been on a Celine Dion Youtube binge for this whole month. I really like her voice.

.

Can you major in something like that in college I wonder?

Blue Man Group

Is that also basically a circus type show? I believe they all play some kind of instrument. What do you call those type of performers?

From what I can gather it's men with blue faces hitting drums?
Weird shit.. Monte Carlo was plugging it like mad
I watched Ka at Mgm grand that was pretty good
And some jousting show at Excalibur that was average
But the chicken was good

Blue Man Group isn't really a circus show but instead more a general "mind fuck." You walk out feeling like your brain just got fucked and it's all tingly and titillated. They play lots of instruments but most of them are made out of what looks like PVC pipe. It's a great show and a ton of fun and I recommend it to everyone who goes to Vegas.

I took my fiancee to "Zumanity" which is a Cirque show and it was a good time... lots of nudity and it's a cool show with a killer atmosphere.

I saw the “Love” one with the Beatles covers, that was cool.

Saw Daniel Tosh do stand up last time I was in Vegas, that was awesome.

It's hard to explain because there's really nothing like it that I have seen or experienced before. Lots of visuals and crazy stuff going on, and they don't actually talk... they use big flash cards if they want to convey a message. They do a lot of drumming and do some musical stuff, but not the whole time. Something which blew my mind was these statues they have off the corners of the stage, but there are maybe 6 or 7 of them on a wheel, so when they spin real fast it looks like the statue is dancing. It's just something you don't expect and then out of nowhere there's a statue dancing... unreal.

It really is hard to explain and I think that's why "mind fuck" is the best way to describe it.

I saw the cirque du Soleil MJ One at Mandalay Bay last year.

I was a huge MJ fan so my expectations were high and it blew those expectations away away. I highly recommend

Murray the Magician is pretty cool -- as is crazy girls.

Zumanity is good -- naked cirque.

But the best is the guy on Fremont that lets you kick him in the nuts for a small fee.

I saw him at one of the street bridges between Bellagio and Ceaser’s. Had a sign with that almost verbatim.

I saw it with my family. First question out the door was from my sister
“so strip clubs are like that Dirty Diana pole dancer?”
“Yup, except they look like bimbos and are topless”
“....ok, I get it now”<Lmaoo>

Are the Jersey Boys still playing in Vegas? I really enjoyed it.
