What is your favorite Sci-Fi movie/franchise of all time ?

I feel one of the most underrated and overlooked franchise is the Planet of the Apes reboot. Typically in a trilogy, there is one that is glaringly weak, but all 3 of the planet of the apes reboot are quite good. And the CGI of the apes are the best animal CGI in class.

Hopefully Reign of the planet of the apes coming out later this year will maintain the quality of the franchise.

The 2001 series. Yeah 2010 blew, but 2001 is the best sci fi ever and even if the rest of the series sucked it still carries the series above all.

if we're counting TV it's X Files for me, and its not even remotely close

just movies, shit, too many franchises have massive weak links (AVPs for Predator and Alien, Alien Resurrection for Alien, T3/4 for Terminator, etc...)
My favorite sci fi movie, if this counts, might be the original Total Recall.

Interedasting...going to give it a watch. Don't know much about Dune but the grandiosity behind it fascinates me. There's a remake by Denis Villanueve coming out in 2020.
