This may seem like an off question but with a string of insane ppvs coming up I was wondering how everyone selects what ppvs to purchase, etc.

While I was in college I lived in Pittsburgh, so finding a bar to watch the fights at was easy. But since I left over 5 years ago, and have since moved to a small town, watching fall's completely on me.

So basically, if I'm going to pay the $60, I have to decide which to watch. My criteria is simple. The main event has to be fire. I ordered 194, 195, and 196. Those three main events were worth the price of admission. I don't order rousey or any wmma main event cards. Luckily my old roommate is in love with ronda so I got to see 193. That was a moment in time for fight fans and especially mma fans who know the sport. So I'm glad I got to see it and kudos to Ronda for tricking me into thinking I cared about wmma for a short period of time.

Right now I plan to order 197 & 198. Those two cards can rival any imo. In the past I have ordered cards solely based on my interest level. Hell , ordered the ppv with Hughes vs alves. Not great on paper but still a good card.

We as a group always ordered Brock ppvs because for some reason they were always insane.

I guess my real question is, is 200 going to be worth it, and what are some criteria that other people use? I dont order boxing ppvs anymore. Not since sugar Shane vs Oscar part 2. I would have paid to see mayweather vs Pac in 2009, but not in 2015. Would like to hear others thoughts. Used my phone so there may be grammatical errors. Sorry.

My criteria for ordering a PPV depends on how much money is in my account. Who's fighting on it and If my guy can get an 8th. That is all.

Three fights minimum with people I actually want to see. Solid main card is a must.

I'll typically order a PPV if it features fighters that both I and family/friends (mostly casual fans) are interested in watching...GSP, Silva, Ronda, Conor, etc.

Quite frankly, some of my best times have been watching PPVs solo, with some pizza and wings, and not having to worry about everyone asking "why do they keep fighting on the ground?".

Super fair question. I think your logic seems solid.

I guess one thing I take into consideration is how many other people I can get to pitch in. Not sure how tough that is in your smaller town. But for example, if Conor is on a card (ex: 200), I feel confident my friends that don't even follow MMA will come over and throw a few bucks in, since Conor alone is a draw for them.

Will 200 be worth it? I personally would say yes, but I'm a Frankie fan and am personally intrigued to see how he does against Aldo this time around, and for some reason find myself intrigued by Cain's future... but then again, that would merit him staying healthy haha.

Interesting thread.

2015 was the first year I worked full-time. I ordered:

UFC 185 -- two title fights, I expected Pettis/RDA to be fun, plus big names (Reem, Hendricks, Cejudo)
UFC 187 -- again two title fights, two BIG title fights at that
UFC 189 -- lol once more two title fights. Probably the most I have been excited for an event
UFC 194 - again a two title fight card. The most stacked main card of the year.

In 2016 I bought:

UFC 196.

The trend for me seems to be clear. I like two title fight cards and Conor cards. They do stack Conor cards though

I got money, but why pay for it when it's free all over the internet?

It's kinda like buying CD's or DVD's.

200 is a very good card.
Might boycott it tho.
Just because the match up doesn't make sense.
The UFC only seem to care about PPV buy's now.
And I don't like it.
Should give Title Shot/Main event to the most deserving guy.
Was piss when Sonnen Vs Jones was made
I'm pissed now because that one of the worst rematch in history.
+ at 170lbs??. come on now...
Interim fight when the champ is on the same card...
SMH...

The card should not suck and not be overpriced.

I haven't ordered a PPV in like 6 years

It mostly depends on if I can go out on a Saturday night. If I'm sick or have to be up early Sunday, things like that, I'll order the card and stay home and watch it. If I can go out, I'll watch at a bar or a friend's place and help out with food/drinks/etc, which is usually what happens. It rarely is a case that I just choose to stay home and pay full price for a PPV.

Either a must see fight or one of the few people I view as must see fighters

My criteria is if my friends don't want to go to a bar, I'll order it at home (so a lot of the smaller shows).

Only time it wasn't worth it was 161.

for not to steal, you know ? in regards of the law is the same as stealing in any physical shop, people just do it more proportion wise because the risk of getting caught is really small

-Can I watch the PPV for free ?

- Yes.

- Not gonna buy it.
