What is the rationale for using ANYTHING 1 month out from your fight post-USADA?

I get that the stakes are high and a lot of money rests on whether you win/lose, but a lot of money rests on whether you even GET to fight.

Pre-USADA I could see ppl not giving AF because they'd get paid anyways. And if they were caught they'd forfeit a portion of their purse and be suspended for a short period (likely the amount of time they would have been shelved anyways). But they just forfeit a portion of their disclosed UFC pay, so that didn't include any sponsorship. Maybe the sponsor drops them immediately after learning of the failed test, but the fighter was still paid.

Post-USADA I'd be scared straight from using anything. The risk/reward balance is so skewered to the negative and I can't understand how some fighters these days keep trying to Lance Armstrong the system. The penalty for the first infraction is already huge (2 years), but fail another test and it's curtains for most fighters. The UFC will ban you, and good luck trying to get out of your contract to fight anywhere else. They could just as easily Wanderlei you and let you sit in contract purgatory for a few years.

The whole Jones/Brock revelation is confusing for me. The fact that the positive tests were so close to the fight gives me hope that it'll indeed be some sort of supplement hijinks, because nobody could be THAT stupid.

Like Jones never looked like a roided fighter before and mostly relied on his prodigious skill and physical advantages, BUT he did start going to weight lifting as his addiction and being around competitive lifters all my life I can tell you these guys have no shame talking about what GEAR they're using. A competitive lifter at the national level told me "if you're not using, you're not trying hard enough". He might have been better off doing coke and hookers since he still was a badass fighter. Still for Jones, why risk finishing your cycle 2 weeks out from your fight? IMO, he was so used to coming out fresh as a daisy in the fans' view after every incident--he hit a pregnant woman, sped through a school zone, was combative towards a cop--and STILL wound up on the biggest card for the company ever and was going to make 10 mil. He probably thought he was Jesus at this point.

Brock on the other hand I'm still confused with because by all accounts he pulled off a master move and avoided USADA's 4 month testing policy simply because the UFC couldn't pass up the chance for the PPV boost (which was largely overrated btw). But he already got away with the heist and seemed supremely confident that the tests would find nothing, laughing at USADA while spitting quips like "I'm a jacked white boy, deal with it". He knew they were testing him hard since there were 4-5 prior tests he submitted to before the failed one, so why use anything at all?

Even though that one poster here seemed to be trolling regarding his RAD medication, that's just way more believable then Brock suddenly having the need to juice up some more 1 week from the fight. And according to Coach (ESPN WWE analyst), he knows for a fact that the Brock talks started up in March when Conor was still on the card and Dana was hinting at another face melting fight announcement. I don't buy any of this junk that they originally planned for Brock at 205.

For any TLDR ppl, summary was if you use these days knowing USADA is lurking, you're dumb as all hell.

A lot of people are still getting away with doping post-USADA. Everyone who gets popped does so for things like maskers and usually only once out of many tests, somehow testing negative when clearly they shouldn't be. It's more risky, but if anything guys are being more careful and somehow evading the tests.

call me a pos but I hope there is another victor conte out there and he or she figure out how to be ahead of usada. To me usada are not in this to clean up the sport they are in this to take over and flex muscle. Its a joke that events were ruined because they couldnt analyze tests quick enough. Hey if it takes 3 weeks to get results do your effin tests 2 months out. These guyts are training hard whether they are using or not, they are dedicating their lives to putting their health and well being and egos on the line for our enjoyment. I honestly dont care what they take as long as they keep it to themselves and dont openly promote steroid and hgh use. juicing up doesnt make them better in the cage it just gets them there easier. Rich Piana outweighs dom cruz by 200lbs and after watching his last video where he is throwing his hands around in a boxing gym I would bet my car title and deed to my house that dom would demolish him without breaking a sweat.

There will always be people who try to cut corners and gain advantages, no matter what the potential consequences are. And remember, no matter how many people are getting caught, there are likely many more who are getting away with it. So fighters, and their egos, likely think they'll get away with it too.
