Yeah, I think people became less desperate, eager or hungry. Because 2000 came by and it wasn't the end of the world, so they chilled out after that. People started to become less creative when it comes to films and also TV took over in terms of quality.

With Taxi Driver and Rocky in 76 I couldn't warrant Star wars in 77.

Yeah, I think people became less desperate, eager or hungry. Because 2000 came by and it wasn't the end of the world, so they chilled out after that. People started to become less creative when it comes to films and also TV took over in terms of quality.

I think it was also the rise in new technology that brought about the more centrally controlled film output. I think we ended up with more just okay films than a few master pieces....

I shouldn't have said bias but a lot of years have an unfair advantage over the others because way more films are listed, granted it wouldn't help if you did because they are weak.

79 will probably win imo excellent year

73, 74, and 79. I'm probably in the minority in not loving 70s cinema. I find the 50s, 60s, and 80s to be much stronger. Not in love with the new Hollywood era.
