What strategy do you think would gibe Stipe the best possible chance of defeating Werdum? I'll list a few possibilities:

1. Brawl with him. Start by moving in quickly and then throw hard punches at a fast rate, keeping this pace up for as long as he can.

2. Box, rather that brawl with him. Still try to keep is standing but conserve your energy more than in the above strategy.

3. Try to wrestle him and go for a win by ground and pound.

Considering its in Brazil I doubt it's by decision and he sure as hell ain't submitting him so KO/TKO is his best bet I'd say. As for your opinion, I don't think he should try and wrestle him or box, we saw he is a much improved striker (werdum) so imo he needs to rush in and take it to the champ the second the bell rings, try to overwealm him and KO him

Outstriking him

and avoiding the ground like it's molten hot lava

TKO or decision are the obvious short answers. Don't think he brawls because he can out strike Fabricio with technique and he won't willingly opt for the wrestling strategy for obvious reasons. He's a smart fighter who typically comes into fights with a good game plan and follows them and with this being by far his biggest fight, I seem him being fairly safe.

Still think he gets a TKO

Box werdum. Werdum is crafty especially with Mauy Thai on the feet but stipe has the boxing to clip and hurt him.

Wrestling werdum is not a good idea and brawling is always dangerous no matter who you are

Land big. And use strength to take him down smartly. Trips especially.

Alistar Did that perfectly even though I thought he lost the fight.

Outbox from the outside, for a UD. Avoid the buttscoot.

He matches Werdum's size while Cain was smaller. I think he needs to outbox him. And I think he might do it.

Am I the only one who thinks that Stipe is a bad match up for Werdum and will beat Werdum quite easily???

Honestly, I don't think that Werdum can deal with his speed.

Punching him in the face.

Footwork and angles. Muay Thai fighters are plodding in most cases. It'd be really dumb for Stipe to take the fight to the ground at any point.

Constant movement and pace, check any leg kicks. Control distance and go in to attack and get out the moment he's done jabbing or finishing a combo. Avoid the clinch as well. Werdum has some nasty knees.

Werdum is a much more well rounded fighter, Stipes best chance by far is to keep his distance, get a good sense of the timing and push momentum in his favor as soon as possible. Werdum has a lot of cage experience so the longer he's in there the more comfortable he's going to get as the rounds go by. Stipe will only have the advantage if he can push the pace and tire Werdum out, otherwise I doubt Werdum will be all that aggressive initially, he'll probably feel things out on the feet.

Another thing Stipe could do, and this really depends on how the fight plays out, but if he kind of plays possum with Werdum for a bit as long as he defends well and lures Werdum into thinking he can get away with more than he actually can, then come back fast and hard with a counter.

Werdum has more physical tools and skills to win, I see a lot of Stipes success dependent on what type of strategy he uses.

Box and win a decision. Werdum is nearly imposdible to put away. Sure, JDS did almost ten years ago, but JDS was an unknown opponent. Werdum didnt know his boxing skills, didnt know anything of him, And looked fat, unprepared And out of shape.

(T)KO or an extremely lopsided decision

Here's how I match them up
Size- equal (Stipe maybe a bit bigger)
Distance Striking-Stipe
In the pocket-Stipe
In the Clinch-Werdum
Wrestling-Stipe
Grappling-Werdum

Can't wait to see!
