If you make a list of all the things that define a great mma fighter, Jones has more of those things than most other fighters.

Also: he improved his physical attributes by cheating.

Doesn't take fights he can't win. Extremely smart in that regard plus the obvious great fight IQ.

In other words, a smart, well-rounded, physically gifted, and adaptable fighter.

Add the picograms, and a massive dose of sociopathic, borderline criminal psyche, and voila! :: your quintessential cage fighter!
 
I dissed his right hand for years.
His left (writing) hand was always good.
But in the Gane fight he showed good counters with his right from orthodox stand.
So I gotta stop dismissing his right hand.
Now he is even more well rounded.
