What is a job that pays a lot less than most people think?

Women’s gender studies advocate.

Here in England it's the railway, people think all railway men are on tonnes of money and do nothing, it's like a catch here someone asks what you do and you say railway and they will say 'God, I bet you are minted?'

Err no, i've been on the railway for years and it's bollocks, the top 10% are raking it in that being welders, drivers, supervisors and gang leaders

But the reality for the rest of the 90% of men and women on there is 0 hour contracts, 2-3 shifts a week, if you are lucky and 10-13 pound an hour. There is no overtime or near impossible to get and the whole infrastructure is a mess, it's ran by morons.

Yes, it's true there is a lot of sitting around but trust me, 12 hour shift sat in a van with 9 men for 4 hours a night is not fun no matter what pay you are on.

Entrepreneur.

When most people hear that word, they immediately think of the richest businessmen in the country when 99% of entrepreneurs are in debt and struggling

Probably some types of doctors.
Physical/occupational therapists are virtually all doctorate programs now. And they make about ~75k/yr iirc(although the market you live in can influence that a lot).

I just couldn't help myself...

I wish I'd heard that line about a 2.0 grade being in the meaty part of the curve when I was going to high school. I might have felt a little better about myself.

"Unlicensed" gynecologist

Not only do they not pay you, but sometimes they even wanna put you in jail wth

Lawyer. Obviously some make a killing but most start out pretty low. A lot of lawyers start out working as prosecutors or public defenders making less than 50k for crazy hours.

Newscasters....local guys make jack shit

Radio djs....again the top guys are killing it but most are poor af

I work for the rr in the states...here it’s just about all unionized and pay ranges from say 60k-150k or maybe even more depending on the area or route.

No lol.. Prosecutors and public defenders do not work crazy hours, generally. Public defenders have 1 or 2 dockets a week, and can handle the load in 30 hours. I worked as an assistant public defender practicing under mcl 8.120 a while ago. Boss left by 1:00 3 days a week .

Lawyers, everyone thinks Lawyers are so glamorous, and smart, and successful, but it aint true. Most lawyers struggle to get clients. Not a lot of people need a lawyer consistently. Plus law school is expensive.

Mechanics. Shops charge $60 to $100 per hour but pay the guy doing the work less than $20 per hour.

Not a direct answer to the topic but Nursing staffs are severely underpaid for the shits they have to do in hospital.
