My friend and I were talking about this fight and going into the final round Holly was up 38-37 if Meisha won the fifth their was a chance it could be a 10-8 round meaning she would win the belt by winning only 2 out of 5 rounds. We were both racking our heads and couldn't come up with this outcome ever occurring especially with a championship belt on the line. Can you imagine the uproar if someone won a belt via UD and only won 2 out of 5 rounds? Sorry if this was brought up in another thread I searched to no avail. But can you remember any such outcome?

I don't know if she could get a 10-8 round for 1.5 minute of ground control, but I do know that a draw would've been much worse than the actual outcome. Remember Edgar vs Maynard 2. We could see Edgar vs Pettis, but didn't.

judges in MMA are so bad that I'm surprised they scored the second a 10-8

they give out 10-8s every couple years

So 2 10-8 rnds and 3 9-10 rnds.

If this was really the case i wouldnt be mad. Just because someone eaks out 3 rnds but get torn up for the other 2 doesnt mean they should win the fight. God i want pride scoring.

but if she won 10-8 she would be up 47-46 so she would win the belt with only 2 rounds hers.

Yes... I read it wrong, so edited my original reply.

It's judged on points, not rounds.

2 dominant rounds to 3 competitive round. I'll take it.

Anderson just KOed Bisping and didn't get a 10-8 for it, so no way should Tate get a 10-8 if Holm survives that sub.

Me too, but I think a lot of people would lose their minds over it. I remember watching the fight semi thinking Tate may have won the earlier round 10-8 and if round 5 is 10-8 the belt would be hers. Never saw a fight scored that way.

If she did not finish her, it would have been 10-9 and a draw IMO

If the fifth was a real 10-8 round, I think Miesha deserves the fight, but no I haven't seen it ever work that way.
Has anyone ever won a 3 round fight by winning one 10-8 round and the other fighter getting a point deduction and winning two 10-9? That must have happened somewhere

She wouldn't have, she only started taking control of the round with about 1 minute and a half left, would have been the worst 10-8 round in history.

That would be very interesting. It never occurred to me, but it would be fair.

Should have happened in the Mousasi x Jardine fight, but they ended up scoring it as a draw

if she got a 10-8 in the 5th it would have been a draw

learn some basic math bud

EDIT:i just noticed that she won the second 10-8 i figured it was a 10-9

Yeah, good call. It was that fight that made me think that it must have happened, because there are so many 3 round fights for every 5 round fight, that the law of averages would imply that it has, I just hope someone here knows of one of the better known times.
War Kiev, my hometown!

That's why I posted the image ;) Is this my wife? Attack me so quick, LOL

Do you count the rounds where Bisping knocked down Silva 10-8s as well? Because you're essentially saying Silva should have gotten a 10-8 for one strike in the final 10 seconds.
