yesCredit to his durability and heart
Seriously though...
Carwin likely wasn't as good as people thought he was.
He had 1 career Top 10 win (against Mir) and also had a Top 20 win.
The rest of the guys that he beat were not even Top 40
We don't know how good Carwin actually was for sure. He could have been another Black Beast. A guy that has a chance against anyone because of his power but loses to anyone in theTop 10 nine out of ten times.
Carwin wasn't that good. He had legendary power but his striking was outrageously stiff, and his wrestling was never that impressive either. His striking defense was especially questionable. Tough as nails and could take it, but he was never going to be overly good. He had too many holes in his game.
He was getting outstruck by all of Wellisch, Wain, Gonzaga, and Mir before he won. Credit to his durability and heart for this but it's not the best idea for a long career, especially in the HW division.
His takedown attempts were stuffed by Wain and Mir. Wain was essentially just some tough guy brawler and Carwin couldn't take him down. Mir, who isn't known for his TDD by any means, threw a combo and Carwin shot underneath it and was still stuffed. He was also taken down by Gonzaga.
If he was still around, I have him losing pretty handily to the likes of Werdum, Stipe, JDS, Overeem, Arlovski, Rothwell, and Hunt. Probably some others too.
My head hurt just reading the title.
Carwin didnt break down. He got broken by jds.
they always get the height and reach etc wrongCarwin cut height all of the time according the the UFC so why couldn't he cut age?
Sometimes he was 6ft 5"...sometimes he was 6ft 2"
Thats very true. And good point.Carwin had serious back problems that forced his retirement.
He couldn't even hit mits from the Mir fight onwards.
You not see how much muscle mass he'd lost by the JDS fight? He went from cutting from 280lbs to weighing something like 248lbe Vs JDS, he was a shadow of his former self.

You're right, but it was great while it lasted. He was kind of like conor in that his hands seemed to be magic (at least before the diaz fight).
