First night of fights, friday.
Was hoping to stream some bellator but turns out the sites i usually use for bellator because i dont have spike tv anymore on my bell tv here in canada..didnt have any streams for it lol so that tells you how much interest there was in that card ..no streams..instead there was LFA streams so i caught some of those fights.
One thing i noticed right away was that lighting..why is it so dark in some areas of the cage or looked dimmed? Then as im watching the fights , i realised that although the skills are not at the ufc levels, as this is a minor league what is there is tons of heart and hunger..the guys really want it and are fighting tooth and nail almost every match i saw..it was refreshing to see the sport in such a raw and basic light..i enjoyed the co main event which was lhw title fight that could possibly be a comeback of the year candidiate for 2018 already alex nicolson ( ex ufc) vs ryan spann ..and the main event gave us a middleweight clash with a top calfornia prospect anthony hernandez who delivered a pretty dominate performance for his 6 professional fight and win couple more and he could be on his way to the UFC just like Anders whos fighting machida soon.
Now on to saturdays UFC event.
So the prelims were interesting in that the way they spaced the fights had 3 WMMA matches back to back..which probably pissed off alot of people but for me its the prelims, and there not highly ranked fighters so thats where they belong..i noticed that in a few of saturdays WMMA fights that there seems to be a lack of commit on there end when attacking..the only fight that the women really brought was Kish vs Kim.. there was some really solid shots and combos being landed, however i couldnt help noticing in that fight that Kim..essentially has no mma training..just boxing..she has no clinch game, no kicks, no knees, no takedowns ..just threw punches the hole night..would be shocked to see her go any further up in the ufc rankings without correcting this first..the rest of prelims were good and koch vs green provided us with some good violence leading into the main card and for me the qoute of the night
" you guys want to fight my cousin you have to go through me first" or somin like in reference to lee and alvarez calling out diaz..interesting to see if he gets a bigger fight now green with this..
Onto the main card,
The fights overall were pretty good, dober and camacho was something special..two thick tanks just banging it out , could of sworn dober was going to take it in the 2nd, both gained some fans after that performance.
The bermudes fight was very competive and i think andre fili did well stayed sharpe and stuck with his gameplan through the whole fight..but bermudes was hammering that leg ..but i think the judges got it right in the end..andre stuffed alot of takedown while landing his own..not.much control for andre on the ground but takedowns non the less and he was more accurate on the feet. Not sure what bermudes can do at this point at 145..could we see him at 135?
Main event
For all the talk of this fight will be different then last and brunson especially pushing how hes changed..it almost literally happened like the first fight it was almost comical..big win for jacare
