Personally, I think that jones dominates Cormier for 5 rounds and decisively wins 50-45 with that one judge going 49-46. BUT I am a huge Jones fan so maybe I'm just looking past the fact that his last fight wasn't how people expected it to be and maybe he's lost his touch. I'd argue that he dominated OSP for 5 rounds which would be a significant feat from many fighters but people just expect more from Jones. Was he holding back? Was he not used to the adaptation from Cornier to OSP? Is his new strength training impacting his fighting? But ultimately, will Jones continue his domination of LHW or is his reign over?

As a DC fan i dont think i have it in me to watch this. Like being with your uncle when he's on death row.

Im sure the booze will get me through this though.

Hopefully Jones sends him off to be a full time commentator...

Picking Jones and I think he comes out on top like he always does but I don't understand people who think Cormier doesn't have a chance. The first fight was quite competitive and if Cormier succeeds with his TD's this time, he can take this fight. Cormier worries me the most among all of Jones opponents.

I haven't gone back, but I don't recall the first fight being especially competitive. DC won a single round and Jones was never in any real trouble.

I think whatever rust or bugs he had in his game for osp was wiped clean. he got the nerves, the rust, whatever you call it, out of his system. Plus fighting a completely different opponent also mattered. He will be a far better fighter come ufc 200

As far as I remember most people including myself scored 2 rds for Cormier. And there was no round that was a total domination. Jones picked up in the end and clearly won the last two I think and AFAIK 4th was a bit dominant but I felt like Cormier could have won the fight had he not lost a step in the later rounds. The thing about Jones is that he never seems to give up, in fact when he is seemingly down on the cards, he gives it his all whereas that's exactly what's missing in fighters like Gus, Cormier and Rumble. Jones biggest quality is his will to win and keep that belt no matter what.

Fair enough.

Partially for the reasons you suggested, I don't see anybody out-pointing Jones to win the title. Somebody is going to have to finish him - and I just don't think DC is a threat to do that.

If I'm a Jones fan, my biggest perceived threat is Rumble. Having a great chin simply doesn't mean much when taking a clean shot from him. It's only a puncher's chance, but it's still the biggest threat in the division today.

Gusto is obviously a threat, in that he pushed Jones to the brink in their first bout. But Jones made it a point to challenge himself and stand with the kickboxer. I believe he could have turned that into an all-around MMA fight at any moment - at which point Gusto's chances would have gone out the window.

I like DC and was ready to switch bandwagons to him from Jones. I didn't think the first fight was that close and expect more of the same in the next one. Would love to see a finish either way.

He was talking about how osp would handle the pressure...------ When you go hard in sparring.... Having defended your title multiple times.... Dunno where the rust would come from... OSP did tag him a couple times.. Had he stormed him.. could have knocked him out... I think cormier can win this fight if he bullies him. Jones' size combined with his opponents thinking about having their knee dislocated by the side kick paired with those spinning bows get people to become stagnant.

I know Jones is favored but I don't care, still rooting for DC.

Maybe I am biased but I though DC won rounds 2-3 in their last fight, and has looked in better physical shape since then.

Daniel Cormier is 37. He's coming off the Gus fight and an injury.

Jon Jones is 28. Stronger. Clear headed. He knows what to expect from DC so he'll be confident.

I think he might get the finish. He's going to go for it. It won't be pretty. 200 is going to be a statement like that Shogun fight.

DC will no longer stand for Default Champ because he will no longer be one, but DC will after the fight stand for Don't Cry...

I wish people didn't hate Daniel so much.
  • Olympian
  • 1 loss on his record
  • Doesn't get into trouble outside the cage
  • Missing tooth

Come on, he's not such a bad guy.

Round 1 ... competitive
Round 2 ... competitive
Round 3 .... competitive
Round 4 .... gassed Cormier gets schooled by Jones yet never in trouble
Round 5 .... neither man did much but Jones wins via more control .... and again ... neither of them in real trouble.

If Cormier has improved his weight cut so he doesn't gas as hard AND avoids the body shots while coming in .... he can have a 100% fully competitive fight with Jones.

Jones landed 50 more strikes in the fight. He landed 3 TDs to DC's 1. Sure, I think DC can lose 4-1 while keeping it "competitive" in each individual round. But I don't see anything better than 4-1, which isn't a competitive overall fight.
