What happens if neither UFC or Conor budges?

As a hypothetical say Conor says he is never going to do promos again and UFC says you will never fight for us unless you do promos, what will happen?

Will the contract just forever be frozen? can Conor get out of it somehow?

Is it pretty much a case of Conor has to honor the stipulation that he needs to promote or never fight professionally again?

It will be just like Randy Couture and Rampage.

I'm not sure but I think your thread might be grinding Mr Hunt's gears.

I'm pretty sure the answer gets revealed in court if nobody budges.

My guess is the UFC will immediately tank and Bellator will be the new leader in MMA programming.

Conor didn't say he's never going to do promos.

If both parties don't agree to scrap the previous contractand and start anew, then Conor breaches the contract if he doesn't perform its terms. If Conor breaches, then the UFC can sue Conor for breach of contract for non performance. It really depends on the specific terms of their agreement, however, which we're not privy to.

UFC 200 is without Conor. Its not the end of the MMA world.

At best, Conor would wind up fighting in court for a very long time. He really doesn't hold any cards here.

They just want Diaz to announce his retirement after that Conor can handpick a new, on vacation, opponent.

UFC always wins in the end.......Cloner isnt big enough to beat them

As much as I don't like Dana, I understand why he's not going to budge: it just sets up a slippery slope and who knows what else Conor (or any future fighter) will ask for going forward. Conor made the UFC a lot of money, but without the fanbase and branding the UFC has, I doubt Conor will make as much per fight anywhere else as he does now. As UFC is the more established entity, I think they ultimately hold the leverage despite losing potential earnings from Conor fights in the short term.

Dana only has himself to blame for this current mess, however, for coddling to Conor and his demands so far.

Conor never fights again if that's the case. The only alternative is if the fighters make a union. But even a union isn't going to make fighters exempt from promotion.

Yea ok.

Bret Hart was never going to go back to the WWE.
Terrell Owens was never going to play football.
A-Rod wasn't going to get one more penny from the Yankees.

There are no absolutes in theater.
