At that point they may as well cancel the fight. Funnily enough though my expectations for this fight are so low that, that's exactly what I'm expecting to happen. Khabib misses weight, max misses weight and it get cancelled.

didn't Dana actaully say he will be stripped as soon as the #1 and #2 contender actually fight? i think he said "as soon as the first punch is thrown". so basically Conor won't be stripped if the bout (between #1 and #2) gets cancelled. and he could easily fit this current scenario under that broad CYA umbrella.

so ya. whatever Dana wants. including not stripping Conor. or having no champ. or having a 2 division champ if Max wins.

here's my guesses:
if Khabib makes weight and wins, he's champ
if Max makes weight and wins, he's champ champ
if the winner didn't make weight, then according to Dana there is no champ and according to Conor, Conor is still champ.

He says that Conor will be stripped as soon as the first punch is thrown, but realistically, unless Dana gets in the ring and pauses the fight to strip Conor (gigiddy) it won't be announced until the winner is announced by Bruce Buffer. If Khabib misses weight and wins, they'll just announce him as the winner of the fight and keep Conor as champ.
