What happened to the OT, and where do we take General Chat?

It seems I missed a lot while I was away. Can anyone tell me what happened to the OT?

Where do we go for general chat, if not the OT, or is that just not acceptable any more?

Also, is there any recourse for an individual who was caught up in the ban avalanche, but without any real knowledge of why?

My..err...friend was a plat member at one point, generally made good-natured, humorous, and relevant posts albeit in the Lord of the Flies spirit of the OT (although he posted in Heavies and contenders regularly as well) . To have received a perma-ban with no reason listed is pretty wicked.
