When they both hit the scene, they were top level athletes. Regardless of skills they bought the thrills. Now Koscheck had some Lay and Pray but later on he started striking more and had fun fights. But Melvin was always exciting in every fight.

In modern times, they both experienced this INSANE back to back losses. Its scary because they had great build and strong guys. Functional fast witched athletes. Melvin recently got KO'd again in October and is on a 9 loss losing streak of getting finished left and right.

What happened!?

Melvin is still knocking people out but most are drunk and out of shape.

Not sure about Koz but I still want to see Koz v Daley rematch.

Koscheck fell in love with his stand up. He had a good career, but I think he could have gotten more out of it with better coaching.

But they were athletes!

Ok look I get it if theses guys were some brawler type fighter but these guys were the discipline athlete type. You have different class of fighters, you have brawlers like Leben and Baroni. But Josh and Melvin were both very much in to training in a scientific way. In their interviews they would talk about complex training like increasing strength through low rep and high weight while adding plyometrics to that baseline strength.

Kos is like 41 and not many athletes are competitive at that age.

Melvin does bare knuckle here and there, while Koscheck makes blonde afro wigs that he sells to Khabib

Kos fell in love with his striking, which caused his wrestling to suffer...he became a fighter only looking for the big right hand...he was always over rated as a wrestler also...decent fighter, but was never able to get to the very top...

Melvin fought a lot of quality fighters post-UFC

Njokuani
Salikhov
Adesanya
Gaethje
Girtz
Campos

He also KO'ed Rickels.

These aren't bad losses.

I miss Koscheck.

Melvin's story was different...

Kos is like 41 and not many athletes are competitive at that age.

That might have been the case decades ago...but that is no longer true at all, nowadays...many men, hit their prime in their late 30s early 40s and later...

Thats obviously because they share the same hair. They probably are the same person.

Kos got old. And GSP did some serious damage to his long term well being, both physically and psychologically. He talked about how much that eye injury fucked with him. But in his day, Kos was a consistent top 5 WW. His striking had enough power to usually be dangerous and few opponents could shut down his wrestling. Always thought he was robbed against Hendricks.

Melvin was always a hit or miss fighter from the start. He also got old.

Not at welterweight they don't.

The only division that can allow a guy in his mid-late 30s to come in with a chance is HW.

Melvin Guillard is a noteworthy disciple of Just Bleed and spent his career knocking two guys out, then getting knocked out. A savage and fan favourite but didn't have the fight IQ to reach the top.
