What happened to all the NCAA level wrestlers?

Maybe. But Amosov is as legit as they come. I think top 5 in the UFC.

They get subbed or don't like being hit so they aren't going far.
 
Bellator went on a massive NCAA-signing spree and hired tons of elite wrestlers.

Dana has taken the easy route and just decided to tell his viewers that wrestling is boring, so they don't need them anyway.

Amosov is definitely good and probably the best WW outside the UFC (either him or Ray Cooper), but the way Khamzat just threw a pretty legit dude like Leech around like he was a guy wrestling with his son was ridiculous. I haven't seen a guy coming up with the same kind of physical tools since Jon Jones.
 
The narrative that UFC doesn't hire murrcan wrestlers is new to me. Wondering if it's not like good athletes go to the NFL. I.e. murrkan coping for becoming irrelevant in combat sports.

no that wasn't throwing a guy around. he just got the back and lifted him.

Khamzat won't do that to Amosov. Amosov is a significantly better fighter than Leech with all due respect.

Amosov is legit. Khazmat is legit. Grappling prob is a wash and Khamzat huge power adv on the feet.

I'm not sure but all the wrestling prospects seem to be heading to Bellator. cuz I mean, I guess Deron Winn and Gilepssie, but they have been in the UFC for a while now

I don't know, maybe it's true maybe it's not, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of NCAA level wrestlers like there used to be for sure

I am not Joe but rather a fan of him. Joe took the fight on short notice because Karo was injured and he got kicked out of the same gym as Hughes which left him gym less and in a bad circumstance leading up to that fight.

Colby seems alright and it showed pre-character.

Jorge is your typical thug type character. Not evil but some guy you cant really joke around with. Dealing with folks with Jorge's personality is manageable as long as you keep it polite but professional and don't buddy up with them.

Outside the box suggestion: guys like Jordan Burroughs showed you can make a good living with sponsorships, seminars, coaching, etc — particularly in today’s more ‘online society’. That avenue was not available to wrestlers prior — it was either MMA or you had to stop competing and become a coach to make money.

I have no idea if this is true at all — just a thought that popped into my head right now.
 
It’s a lot easier to make money as a wrestler now, guys like DC who were pretty much forced into MMA now can make a good living only wrestling.

That’s definitely a big difference I thought of as well, I’ve heard both DC and Askren talk about this. I doubt Askren would’ve ever gone to MMA if he was JB’s age.
 
OP complaining about WW not having any NCAA wrestlers, meanwhile the top 2 WW in the world are NCAA wrestlers, just lmao.
