What ever happened to Steven Mazzagatti?

Brock ate him...after punching his stupid mustache off

He finally made it to the grocery store

It's interesting to see which officials are politcially connected and which aren't.

Guys like Mazzagatti and Yamasaki have been blackballed, but other total incompetents like Adelaide Byrd, Chris Lee and Sal D'Amato continue to work.

Adelaide Byrd is the one person that I've seen Dana reticent to criticize. He was asked directly about her judging at a UFC card right after the first Canelo/GGG fight, and his response was just something to the effect of "yeah, she's working tonight" before changing the subject.

Well, bad ref's are one thing. That's something that which will genuinely endanger fighters.

Unfortunately fixed decisions will continue to be a part of combat sports for a long time to come. Too much money Involved In the bookies, rematches, etc.

You forgot to add Herb Dean and Dan Migliotta to the list of nincompoops.

Honestly, as many times as those guys have fucked up, they are among the better refs working.

Watch regional level MMA if you want to see truly horrific officiating. We're lucky that there aren't more deaths in this sport.

So the story goes that Mazzagatti went on a hunting trip where he encountered the Brock Lesnar.. the end.

You don't see him around now don't you.

That doesn't excuse how terrible both Dean and Mirgliotta are in terms of consistency and quality. I'm not even just talking about fighters taking damage or not taking damage. They won't make calls for timidity, give warnings when deductions should be made and forgot other rules as well.

They are both trash.

Well it's not like the ACs are very particular about the refs they license. I mean they let Kim Winslow be a ref ffs.

Most refs don't do that. There's really no consistently for non-contact fouls. E.g. cage grabbing. Fighters can do it for the duration of the fight without getting penalized.

IMO there's a systemic issue with officiating in MMA. I know that McCarthy trains refs, but a lot of the guys that he's instructed, like Jerin Valel, aren't that great either.

Rumor was he got a job as a male nurse, but they had to let him go because he would just sit there and stare at patients until they died and then call in the doctor for help.
