The UFC actually owns the belt and they can collect it at any time, champion or not. That was in the discovery for a case where the UFC and Bellator were fighting over a guy who wanted to go to the UFC.

seriously? So you win a belt only if they let you keep it? You could be the world champ and all you could get (besides money) is a reebok tshirt? Maybe they do it so guys can't sell the belts. I think the Academy Awards do that. But the downside is that if they want to fuck you, they can take your belt. GSP should have not taken it off.

How about entering somebody's room and claiming it?
How about the fact he won it fair and square?
Can they be invited into Tito's house vampire style and peel his walls of belts?
How about the fact that GSP was the most humble, honest and respected athlete they ever had and they were willing to slap him in the face like that?

For someone to even exercise that collection option in this case says everything about Dana and his bros.

Listen to Chael's lost podcast with GSP on it. He tells the whole story. It sounds like to me they didn't want him at the Press Conference because they didn't want him talking anymore about leaving the UFC until they had a chance to sit down with him and see what was really going on. Or try to convince him otherwise. Taking his belt away is fucked up either way.

For those who have no idea what Confusing Threadstarter Man is talking about:

After GSP won the decision on Hendricks, while Georges was getting fixed up backstage, UFC goons came in and took his belt away, and told him not to show up at the press conference.

That is exactly how you should treat a man who made you more money than any other fighter ever....


That was the day I lost all respect for Dana.

If you watch the post fight conference someone gives it to him when he sits down.
I don't know which one it is(original or not),since it was stolen from him when he was in the showers,and you get one for each title defence so I'm sure he has it from that fight.
