What ever happened to Brian Bowles???

I think he kept breaking his hand(s) back in the day and that derailed him (besides the criminal charges).

Similar to Michael McDonald, some of these little BW killers just throw harder than their hands are built to land - once you get a really bad break it's kind of inevitable it's going to keep happening with more and more frequency.

Man I used to love McDonald as well. He seemed like a really nice down to earth guy.

Poor guy, addiction is a treacherous path that requires treatment to find the underlying causes behind substance abuse (punitive measures rarely suffice). As someone who struggled with these issues and found a better way of life through sobriety and AA I hope he can recover.

He was a hell of a fighter too. He had some heavy hands for being in a smaller weight class.

Shame is once you break your hand, it becomes easier to break, and for him being a guy with heavy hands, that's a death knell.

But like I said there’s no reports if he ever even pled or was found guilty or sentenced if he was. It’s also entirely plausible to get out in less than 5 years with those charges.
Probably just isn't a notable enough figure that anyone cared to write about him. Wec is kind of a nothing entity to any non mma fan.

He was in the ufc at the time of his arrest to be fair, albeit on a 2 fight losing streak but still

At the time it was reported. But years later people have completely forgotten he was there for a cup of coffee

I remember all of Josh Grispi’s legal troubles were written about in the media and he was less notable than Bowles.

Grispi was expected to fight aldo for the UFC title at one point before Dustin Poirier sstunned him late notice. So even though he did similarly lose within the UFC he was considered at a higher station than bowles

He was good.

I thought I heard him say he had drug problems and MMA was guiding him away from that in the lead in to a fight (think it was vs. Faber).

Yeah you're right. I think he broke both of his hands once in a fight. It might have been against Faber but I don't remember.
