Back in the beginning of 2000 PRIDE had the best heavyweights in the world.

Now when Rizin will do an open weight grand prix we can expect an interesting fightcard but will Rizin be accepted as a sport or will it be a place where all fighters do not need to worry about steroids?

It is an arbitrary what people says about steroids, can beta alanin be considered as a steroid according to WADA? It is not that all UFC are not in steroids but some fighters have found a system to avoid getting tested.

I love the way Rizin does when it comes to matchmaking, who would thought about having a 400 lbs sumo to be part of the tournament? Now i saw Amir Aliakbari will fight there, Rizin wants to take all olympic wrestlers to their events in short.

true, would you rather see seven good events or 30 bad ones?

The first step is forgetting about competing with the UFC for the foreseeable future.

The second step is convincing their home audience (Japan) to watch. Otherwise, they won't be around for long anyway.

That's the best answer possible.

revive the japanese mma market.

which i honestly dont understand at all, so.. i donno.

Rizin's marketing plan should involve invoking nostalgia among JMMA fans, especially Pride fans, and don't shy away from freak fights. A lot of people on these forums like to look down on these types of fights, but they bring attention to the orgs and are guilty pleasure for a lot of people. Granted orgs like the UFC have to be more careful since they are the biggest, most well known and one of few that seem to be perceived as a real sports organization.

Rizin doesn't want to be competition to anybody, they rely on working with promotions, not against them. In that way, they are the opposite of the UFC.

And that's fine.

LOL. They have to rely on working with other promotions, because they have no fighters of their own.

i mean, they do, but whatever. fuck rizin, them doing something INTERESTING and NOT LOCKING GUYS DOWN TO EXCLUSIVE CONTRACTS, REACHING OUT TO ORGANIZATIONS ALL OVER THE WORLD TO GIVE A MEETING GROUND. fucking IDIOTS.

It's easy to reach out when you have no other choice.

Two ideas for them:

1 - Setup proper ppv streaming for their events globally. It's such a huge hassle to even see the thing if you don't have Japanese satellite. I think they could set that up relatively cheaply and yet get world wide income and exposure from it.

2 - Provide fighter friendly contracts (i.e. not locking them down, just sign for that event) and that would let them pull more fighters.

I don't think they are trying to compete with the UFC

Rizin should mostly focus on Asia, especially China.
Make lots of money doing Japan vs Korea vs China vs the World kind of matchups.

Rizin could be a place where fighters from multiple organizations fight each other.
Also, I don't think Rizin wants to own and manage a stable of fighters yet.
