Hot Take What does Jon do that no one else does?

If he lost to Reyes winch i think he did, then he doesn't have 17 title wins
Also NC with DC,and if you dont count OSP interim title winch i dont as its not real championship then the number is 14
Only 14? What a loser.

He stays composed at all times. I can't recall Jones ever being in trouble except for the Vitor armbar, which eventually he got out of by refusing to quit, which is another of his trademarks.

He panic wrestled (like literally) against Gus in their 1st fight, thats not being composed
But he did grow from that fight, big learning experience

He has skills, but more importantly he has creativity and a high fight IQ. These are things that 95% of fighters don't have.

If you think about the greats (GSP, Fedor, Jones, BJ, Anderson) they all had an incredible ability to transition between standup, and the ground, strikes, submissions and wrestling. They were very fluid, and tended to veer towards the areas they recognized weakness, and adapted quickly.

Most fighters don't adapt. They have a skill set and a game plan. The great's flow. Jones is the best example of flow.

No he didn't. Show me when.

And by "staying composed at all times" I obviously don't mean that you're dominating every second of a fight, always knowing what your opponent is gonna throw at you.

Fact is, Jones has never been in actual trouble outside of the Vitor armbar.

84 inch reach.

Seriously, being super lanky has been the key to his success. I believe he'd still be tremendously successful it he had a more common frame, but having extra long arms and legs really brings everything together.

In the 4th round, when Gus was boxing his ears off and after one(out of many in that round) combo Jon dived for a takedown and failed again. It was pure desperation shot from him.Granted he kept trying anything to turn it around and finally it succedeed with that spinning elbow

Also he was very close to losing that fight, i call that trouble

It was a close fight, for sure. You can call that trouble.

I'm pretty sure though that I've made it reasonably clear that by saying that Jones has never been in trouble (outside of Vitor armbar...) I was referring to a specific moment, not a close fight.

Not that Jones has had many close fights either. But for sure, Jon-Gus 1 was one of them.

Lost to Reyes and went 25 minutes with Anthony Smith btw. Then retired until Ngannou left and ducked Aspinall.

I don't think that happened with Ngannou. Pretty sure it was the other way around, when Jones moved up and was slated for his HW debut, Francis left. The moment he got the fight offer it was good bye.

he uses distance well, and actually studies/prepares for opponents specific strategies.

he has the best strategiests, doctors, and on top of that, he SHOWS UP on fight night like no other.

that's the secret sauce for j'on 'jones.

j'on flows like water, when other fights try to force a square peg into a circle by brute dumbass force.

Is TS a hot girl?

Why would I explain sports to someone who doesn't care enough to watch it?

It's his fight IQ and chin. Also turinobol doesn't hurt.

Guys like Cyrille Diabate hit LHW with similar frames. But I think what separated Jones from previous lanklets was his wrestling. You just had no where to beat Jones even early in his career. Jones used his reach to perfection and had an answer to everything. To top it off he had creative attacks, you weren't getting a standard fight.

He's the dirtiest fighter and the biggest cheater in the history of the sport.

On top of that, he's also infinitely better than every single fighter you love who fights 'clean'.

And you hate him for it.
