What specifically makes him so much better than everyone else? He’s not even out here hurting people with his punches

Trtor almost had him man imagine the alternative timeline together if Aldo won or Askren won

He has knees, Elbows, low kicks, range management....

but most importantly, Like GSP, he knows HOW to win and WHEN to do what. It's a very important thing. He knows how to control the optics of a fight. George was a the same, He'd strike with his opponent for a few mins, then switch it to grappling and contain them. Once contained, It's difficult for them to get the round back. Jones just knows when he has to fight, and when it's best to clinch and contain fighters so they can never really get a rhythm going.

Even if that were true, he'd only have one true loss which is not bad for a 20 year long career and 17 title wins.
If he lost to Reyes winch i think he did, then he doesn't have 17 title wins
Also NC with DC,and if you dont count OSP interim title winch i dont as its not real championship then the number is 14

I guess it mostly sums up to «fight IQ», but if you want to specify, it's a mix of having and sticking to a solid gameplan, being very well rounded, being extremely composed, and having a masterful control of range with great head movement. Having a good chin, cardio and heart adds up nicely.

Also, being dirty as one can possibly be, both in and out the cage.

I mean if im allowed to take underground steroids and fight peoole 15cm shorter than me.... I would never lose, would you?

this!

plus he's psycho and really enjoys hurting people in the cage

look at what Chael said about him after their fight

He’s good at everything, knows how to maximize advantages, but most importantly he actually gameplans for each opponent.

Feels like 99% of these guys just show up and fight how they fight. Jon shows up as whatever he needs to be to specifically beat the guy in front of him.
