Let's forget about mileage and assume the fighter already posseses all the fighting knowledge and has taken zero damage.

I know some people will start getting in shape earlier or later in life. Someone could be in better shape at 35 than he was at 25. But let's forget about that.

At what age does the human body have the most potential to reach it's physical peak?

This could also apply to any other sport.

I think it's probably somewhere around 23-25. In a lot of sports guys will reach their prime at around 27-29 but that's most likely the combination of the experience and the athletic ability.

It could also vary from one person to the other since we aren't all born the same.

What are your thoughts?

I think it depends what division.

125-155 probably 26-29.
156 and above about 29-32.

EDIT: You're saying in a world where fighters are instantly filled with all knowledge? Okay then 25-26. But that's not that interesting a discussion.

28-32. By then you know your body, have learned a lot of different skills and intangibles, and understand how to pace yourself as well as be efficient with your energy.

Typically 26-34 is the crossroads between experience, confidence, and physical skill.

But as far as fighters the amount of fights (and taking hard shots) can shrink that window significantly.

Depends on the weight class. 125ers might be past their best by 30 but a heavy might not hit their prime till 30.

Lighter division i think it's around 25-30
Heavier divisions maybe 30-35

One thing to note, while aspects like speed and refelxes start to slow down, peak strength can continue to increase through your 30s and even early 40s. I'm 33 and quite a bit stronger than 25. Not just lifts either, but wrists, tendons, finger, grip, etc are significantly stronger.

Like I mentionned in my post, i'm not talking about experience or how well you know your body. I'm strictly talking about the age the body has the most potential to reach it's peak form.
Oh ok. In that case, ages 28-32.

Makes me wonder about Mighty Mouse.

He's turning 32, has had a lot of fights, and started needing surgeries.

Can he possibly be in his prime for another year or two? Seems unlikely.

26-30 Is when guys are generally at their overall best when you combine Skillset-Experience-Wear&Tear-Athleticism

Lol

At 32 the human body has already started it's slow decline, so that can't be.
Depends when you start MMA and how often you fight, how you fight, and your diet.

^^That's closer to what I was thinking when I was talking about potential peak form.

People saying 30 is definitely not a right answer.
Just look at the sports where there's no skill, tactics or finesse to save you - like sprinting, or swimming in a straight line. Usain Bolt and Phelps peaked at around 23. Women peak even earlier, at 19-20.

Peaking at 27 or later in certain sports only comes because your physical decline has been compensated by increase in skill and experience

27-33 ish

Really depends on the fighter though

Randy and Yoel are some big outliers

27 and I am definitely stronger than I've ever been. Glad to known it's still uphill if I keep at it!

Think it is longer depending on your style and your weight. Heavyweights seem to last longer.
