Social What do you think about the tribal wisdom of the Dakota Indians ?

Overly simplistic. Let's see how the Dakota Indians do running a corporation with 100,000 employees where the only answer for every problem is an old saying about a horse.
To accomplish what? A bunch of sorry fucks who hate their lives doing a bunch of stupid shit they know is pointless and then have to gulp down a bunch of pills and develop disorders and go to “therapy” for? Impressive I wonder why the Indian tribes weren’t running large corporations when people came to America’s probably because the lack the business sense.

You beat me to this thread, TS.

I pontificate on the wisdom of the Dakota Indians at least twice a day.

Three if i ate Mexican the night before.

The Dakota Incident (1956) was a great film.

How did they not notice the horse was dead before trying to ride it?

Agreed, the best strategy is to not get on a dead horse in the first place and pick a live one.

If you've fucked up with that one then the best strategy is to take it back to the horse shop and hope it's still under warranty.

The tribal wisdom of the Dakota Indians, passed on from one generation to the next, says that when you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount.

But in modern business, because heavy investment factors are taken into consideration, other strategies are often tried with dead horses, including the following:

1. Buying a stronger whip.
2. Changing riders.
3. Threatening the horse with termination.
4. Appointing a committee to study the horse.
5. Arranging to visit other sites to see how they ride dead horses.
6. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.
7. Reclassifying the dead horse as "living-impaired". .
8. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse. .
9. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed.
10. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase the dead horse's performance.
11. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse's performance.
12. Declaring that the dead horse carries lower overhead and therefore contributes more to the bottom line than some other horses.
13. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.
14. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.

Can you confirm those points from your carreer experiences ?
My career never involved horsemanship, but pretty sure if the horse is actually dead only thing that may have sense of these is #4

I took horse dewormer so maybe I can speak to the dead horse

These people didn’t have boundaries yet hung out in the Dakotas. All you need to know about them.

Did any of them make something comparable to a smart phone?

No plains tribe was "innocent" in tribal wars, but it was usually the Sioux being assholes.

For sure. The Lakota had a pretty aggressive expansion model. They really had a hard-on for messing with the Pawnee, though. One of the Lakota tactics was to wait for the Pawnee to buffalo hunt. Then, they'd go to their settlement and slaughter the women and children. They loved to set them on fire.

My initial thoughts are if those people are so smart then why aren't they running things?

my theory about the sioux is that since they fought the hardest and got some of the most notable victories, the government came down the hardest on them. they are a mess today, I think they say the pine bluff res is the most poverty stricken in the nation. Broke them into little pieces, I feel for them honestly. Tribes like my own where the chief (My great granpa) saw we had no chance and just rolled over might be looked at as a coward and weak but I don't think we took near the abuse the sioux took.

The Ojibwe and Pawnee don't have much good to say about them either.

My ExWife is Ojibwe from the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota, its funny to hear her get drunk and talk shit on Dakota (Lakota/Sioux etc) . . .
always fascinates me how the intratribal competition persists today.

Its more like sibling rivalry honestly....

Like, i love my big brother, but also fuck that pussy ill beat his ass too, or when i was in the Iraq War with the Army but my FOB was mostly Marines. We would give each other a hard time and fuck with each other, but when the bullets started flying, we had each others backs....eyyyy
