Crime What did the cops do wrong today Megathread Vol. 6 ? (who knows, lots of cop threads)

Finally got around to watching the videos.

This asshole is on record getting nearly $90K in paid overtime working a desk job in an office that's only open 9 hours a day during the working week, and he said it was even more than that when Reyes confronted him about it.

If DOGE were legit, the first set of government employees that they would've gone after are cops who abuse overtime pay.

Bad cops like this Sargeant are why good cops get killed. And police culture and unions are why people say "fuck the police".

This can all be fixed so simply but for some reason they let the bad cops get away with most things

Man, just saw this for the first time. What these stupid motherfuckers don't understand, but probably don't care anyway, is how this
resonates across the country and potentially affects the many, many decent, law abiding and dedicated LE personnel out there generating hatred towards them.

Suspensions and firings need to happen for sure.

What man! Just let me drive around on a suspended license with drugs in my car and then ignore the cops when I get pulled over.

You're one of those guys who thinks because the cops have an inch, they can take the mile.

Answer this question. Since you're theoretically a law enforcement officer and not a thug, with a code of conduct, use of force policies etc. To follow, are those punches to the face appropriate for that specific encounter that took place?

Nope. Strikes to the head are a higher level of force than what was called for in this incident. I was considered a police use of force expert and testified in court cases and depositions about use of force in lawsuits. What would have been called for there would be pressure points, joint locks, strikes to the common peroneal (thigh), and at the highest, pepper spray or baton to the legs or arms if they refuse to let go of steering wheel.

It pisses me off when officers cant simply talk to people and explain PA vs Mimms to them, which requires someone to exit a vehicle when ordered to by a police officer. After explaining that to him, tell him “get out of the vehicle or I am breaking with window and pepper spraying you.” Of course, for a headlight infraction I would never take it that far unless I suspected they were drunk or high or some other indicator that something bigger was going on. Of course, murderers and really bad people have been caught because of no headlights, no turn signals, red lights, etc.

The stop was unlawful. You don't need to have your headlights on unless your wipers are on. This was fishing, and medical marijuana is legal in FL.

They only found out he had a suspended license because they unlawfully stopped him

Too many LEOs are either ignorant to or don't care about 1st, 4th, and 5th Amendments. They need to end Qualified Immunity.

I could have gotten dead back when I was 20ish. I was with my older sister and friends and they busted her for weed. The cop started man handling her in a real rough way. I pulled him away, he took out his night stick and I snatched that shit from his weak ass and quickly handed it to his much older partner with, "What's wrong with your partner?" The older guy actually laughed. The younger cop was furious, but the old guy settled him down. They did arrest my sister, because she also had outstanding traffic warrants, but damn. Today, if I pulled that shit, I could see me getting shot.

100% - Fruit from the Poison Tree. Any competent judge tosses that whole thing. Any good Civil Lawyer gets that dude paid.

Any thoughts on guys like long Island audit who's recently involved in an incident where he was the victim of a crime yet because the person who committed the act was a police officer, the responding officers arrested the victim lol.

And how's it possible for a pistol permit officer pulling in over 80k of overtime...and the department acts like it's all normal and on the up and up.

The first one is one of two things-either the cops are lying or they’re telling the truth or there is no evidence to back the other side. I am not familiar with the story.

And damn that’s a lot of OT and this is not uncommon when when an officer is preparing to retire. They pad their stats to get their slalary up as much as possible because it is the average of your best three years. Me, I got screwed since mine was medically forced and I got the average of my last three years in which I was on comp (66% of salary) for quite a while due to having shoulder surgery for several months-a few weeks in the beginning and several after the surgery. Then sleeping ina chair for six months because I would roll over on the bad shoulder, my back got so bad I couldn’t work and went on fmla leave-so no salary. But those guys kill thrmselves working 80 hour weeks for three years to get their salaries sky high. I couldn’t do it. I rarely did extra work because I was sort of burnt out to begin with. Plus, a lot of the ot was traffic stops which I hated because you were expected to write tickets for granted reasons.

No consequences. No accountability. Just a thug doing thug things.

If you're one of the good ones, you'd hate that your system has been protecting this guy.

In the first video - the guy gas every right to investigate the cop but he is all about getting attention for himself and his pod cast he is making money with by getting in people's face.

Was he on the cops private property? If so and was told to leave then gave the guy shit he needs to be arrested for trespassing. The spitting is not right but if he was trespassing then he got what he deserves.

If the cop is f going ileagl ship I hope they get him.

Clearly you haven't watched the video or any of the other videos of actual lawyers breaking it down.

Whether you like the guy or not, he's clearly about exposing corrupt officials and cops, and why shouldn't he? I approve of his work, he's unlike any of the other "auditors". His actions speak for itself.

Either give the guy and his videos a fair shake, provide actual criticism, or refrain from giving your poor opinion that is both ignorant and arrogant.

I said he has the right to investigate and I'll add good for him exposing bad cops it needs to be done.

But im not wrong about his methods. And what I said about trespassing stands. I watched the first video and then the other two which I had no problem with them. My only question was the trespassing, if he was.

You see theses guys (not him) doing these "first amendment" thing they set up outside of a business on the sidewalk to film people. Of course they have that right but are thete to get a reaction and be assholes.
This guy is much better he is going after bad cops with is good but he tries to get reactions to get more clicks and his methods are there to do that.

What methods are you referring to? Being in public buildings, exercising rights, holding officials accountable and redressing them as afforded by the constitution?

Not all "auditors" use tactics such as instigating or baiting. Long Island Audit simply goes in and records. If you can show me a video of him using bad faith "methods", we can discuss further.

if you care about the constitution, nothing he is doing is "bad". He's always been polite, respectful, and only assertive when needed.

If you watched the video you would know he's not trespassing since he was already on his way off the property as soon as he was told to leave.

You're allowed to go on someone's property and knock on their door. When they tell you to leave, you leave. That's not trespassing. There was no protective order or restraining order on him.

What happened was the unhinged officer came out, told him to leave, went back into his house, grabbed a gun, and came back out and got face to face with him...all while Long Island was already in the process of leaving.

Anyone watching this clearly sees who's the aggressor and who's the victim.

What you should be asking is why and how an officer in that specific position (permits) is making 80k in overtime.

And I do hate it. I have reported fellow cops for misconduct and excessive force.
Respect.

Honest question. When you reported these cops, did anything actually happen? Did you report it anonymously or other officers knew you reported them? Did you ever feel unsafe or excluded after reporting them?
