Connor was coming off 4 straight 1-1.7million selling PPV's. Floyd was coming off a 500k PPV.
Floyd's the biggest PPV draw of all time but he still needs the right name with him to sell the fight and Connor was the biggest name out there at the time.
Floyd has higher PPV peaks but overall, Conor has been the bigger PPV draw in terms of their averages (only slightly above).
There just aren't many other huge names that are built up by themselves for Conor to sell massive numbers with in the UFC like Mayweather had with De La Hoya, Canelo, or Pacquiao
Masvidal was one of the few guys in that 155 / 170 range to gain mass popularity mainly on his own, without any connection to Conor. They only started connecting him with Conor after the Nate fight.
