Will he be able to bounce back at the top and go ahead vs Aspinall ? I remember in 2021-2022 he used to be THE man to dethrone, it was said that he was the future of Heavy Weight.

It's hard to justify the kind of hype he had after it was made perfectly clear he was handpicked to be Jones' stepping stone because of his vulnerabilities to wrestling. That's the kind of thing that takes the wind out of your sails forever.

People forget Cyril Gane was smacking shit out of people before Jones went in and did what he did. I tend to think Cyril shit the bed against Jones that night but who am I to say that? Probs due to a lack of experience and diminished wrestling/grappling compared to Jon.

I’ll always watch Cyril fight because he’s never been in a bad one!

I think he will have some great fights ahead of him either way. Think he beats most of the top ten too.

Aspinall/Gane would be epic but Tom seems to be messing the French man around for previous ducking haha.

Dodgy back of the head strikes aside, Cyril has put in a good show and battered quite a few good names. I don’t know why they’re doing the Volkov fight again. That seems daft to me and pointless…

Cyril almost beat Francis and probs would have if he would have just tried to stay in top mount in last round. I’ll have to watch again as it was a while ago.

Prior to the Jones-Gane fight, Sherdog had it as a 50-50 fight.

I know, that's easy to forget.

If he gets yet another title shot off the back of beating Volkov again its a joke.
Not it's not.
Aspinall got his interim TS against Pavlovich after beating Tybura.
Volkov already beat both of these guys and is on nice win streak, he is the most legit contender right now but has a very bad loss against Aspinall.
If Gane beats him, he is the clearest title contender (ignoring Jones and Stipe who are on the way out).

Blaydes got his chance at the belt, Pavlovich just lost, Almeida lost to Blaydes.

Coming from the Reyes performance, a 3 years booze and drugs fueled layoff, moving up a weight class, there were legit reasons to doubt Jones chances.
It was not a gimme fight at all, but Gane crapped the bed a little that night and made it look easy for Jones.

I'm not sure about those numbers, but I was describing people realizing how wrong they were in their assessment of Cyril.

Gane is a good fighter, but shits the bed in big events. We will see how it goes for him, but there were times he took FIFA games more seriously than mma. He has all the prerequisites to be elite, but is still not there result-wise.

How easy it is to forget...
Or how easy it is to make shit up. I remember a lot of people pointing out Cyril's wrestling weakness was the reason Jones was fighting him.

"Jon couldn't even take down Santos or Reyes, his wrestling is shot."
"Even though I'm smarter than this, I'm going to make up some quotes that wouldn't be indicative of everyone even if they were true." -- Only Here For Attachments

Come on, man. You're not a dumb poster.

But people were saying that!
People were saying all kinds of things. Have you paid attention to this board? That's my entire point -- random quotes, possibly made up, aren't indicative of anything.

Come on. You're not stupid.
