What are your favorite forums in Sherdog and why?

completely true for example I follow Buakaw on Instagram his YT and tons of muay thai social media platforms and he fights like every two weeks same with saenchai and half the time these guys don't even post that they are fighting so you wake up to them winning by KO and are like WTF I didn't hear anything bout this.

Yeah man. I remember I was trying to watch the Tenshin vs Takeru fight. I heard the news that they can't compete because of a TV deal went wrong or something. Few weeks later I saw the news that they are already fighting lol.

High level Muaythai and Kickboxing fights are a joy to watch. Even high level boxing sometimes is more entertaining than high level MMA fight.

There are certain rules in there still.. can’t post nudes, you’re not supposed to back trace (dox) and so on.. as for why people get banned in there? Most don’t. It’s what they do outside that forum that usually gets them caught up.. and this brings me back to why merging is a bad idea, the OT is sort of meant to be a place where posters with certain tendencies can go and let those tendencies fly, or get it out of their system.


But far too often many venture out into the rest of SD and carry that baggage with them into all the other forums. OT regulars that are known to regulars from other forums also get provoked more often into exchanges that lead to their demise. In a way, OT regulars seen outside the OT usually have a target on their backs because of how they’ve treated some posters inside the OT.. it takes some discipline to be able to walk around in all the other forums after being an OT reg.

Very interesting hahaha. So when it was active it's just flame wars or are there any good day to day discussion like Mayberry? The OT nowadays from what I have seen are a bunch of Mayberry threads that were moved there. I would love to do some flame wars if it's legal in OT tbh hahahaha, there are some ridiculous posters I want to call out.

Sometimes i enjoy the pro fights, if there is something fishy going on. I loved to watch Anderson Silva break his leg after Steven Seagal taught him how to kick. And then i loved to watch Chris Weidman break his leg in the same fashion. I liked watching Ronda Rousey get pummeled while the Count von Count was yelling garbage advise at her. I enjoyed pretty much every Jon Jones fight ever, etc.

Watching grappling is more fun to me.

Because UFC is MMA and MMA is basically a form of shoot style pro wrestling. Pancrase, debatably the first MMA promotion, was founded on this premise after some real fights in Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi went over well, which was contrary to the widespread opinion that nobody would ever pay to see a real fight (because Antonio Inoki vs. Muhammad Ali was boring as shit). UFC is selling an entertainment product and therefore should be entertaining.

What MMA organization provide freak shows? I would love to see it.

I used to love the Inoki Genome Federation back when it existed. Nowadays, Rizin is doing a good job making bizarre matchups happen. Watching Gabi Garcia brutally beat up 50 year old Yumiko Hotta of all people was a sight to behold. I also liked Kayla Harrison's entire PFL carreer until they had the stupid idea to match her up against a real opponent. Every once in a blue moon, fun weird stuff pops up in other organizations too, like when Renzo Gracie in his 50's fought Yuki Kondo in ONE.

Mines are Mayberry and UFC Discussion.

I love UFC Discussion cause MMA is mainly the reason I joined Sherdog. The other fight forums can be good as well but imo they are divided into too many forums and it makes majority of them not very active. Muaythai and Kickboxing should be merge with Boxing imo. Both of these forums have minimum traffic, and it's hard to jump around two forums. I also think Worldwide MMA should be merge with UFC Discussion.

I love Mayberry because there is a lot of good topics here, and the posters are really unique with a lot of gimmicks hahahah. OT is also good, but like the case with other fight forums, I think it should just be merge with Mayberry. Mayberry poster is also very solid usually, comforting other posters and trying to find solution to their problem.

I also love the Street Coliseum. I would love to read the War Room but I am very novice in politics hahah. I dont even follow a lot of politics in my country, so it's even harder to read international politics.

For real. I am one of the most often victim. I would often make threads about body attractiveness whether for men or women. My women thread always got sent to another forum while the men stays.

Long story short, Gayberry mods are GAY.

Rizin news usually don't pop up much on Sherdog. Honestly, i usually forget about Rizin for a couple of months until i stumble over it while stalking Takada on twitter or something. Then i check all events that happened since i last watched and look for the fights that sound interesting, which usually spirals into finding other interesting fights. If Worldwide MMA was more active it would probably be one of my favorite Sherdog subs.

The thing with Jon Jones is that apart from him having a pro-wrestling gimmick style personality, i tend to like his fights because his style is sorta unique, often containing very cool moves utilizing his long limbs, like those oblique kicks, the eye poke distance control he does with his arm and also grappling stuff like the Mike Tyson armbar from the overhook clinch. I remember expecting Jon Jones to get either completely mauled or slowly wrestlefucked by Daniel Cormier, and in reality he ended up completely clowning him and holding him down against the cage with one arm like a child

Depends. The ‘flame war’ stuff is part of it but it isn’t the whole thing. It’s the only forum that stuff is allowed in, and yes you can do call outs or ‘Attn’ threads in there all day.. the ‘@‘ feature provides a great angle for that too.. we didn’t always have that feature.


Flame wars are great when you have posters that are good at it, or you get two posters that genuinely don’t care for one another -and of course all the people chiming in to either egg it on or pile on one side or the other tipping the scale and encouraging a possible ‘melt down’.. But again, the shit talking is only part of it.


As for threads being moved there.. that’s always been a thing. There are times when it’s been done and you catch lightning in a bottle and a thread just takes on a life if it’s own. Most of the time now tho the threads probably just die due to lack of regulars in there. Moving threads also exposes new posters to the OT as well.. it’s a bit of an unofficially recognizing recruiting method lol.. or at least that’s one way I’ve always viewed it.


In the end the best posters in there are a combination of those who don’t take it all that seriously along side those that take it waaay too seriously. That’s where the balance of hilarity and endless entertainment in that place resides. Which type are you? Only one way to find out..
