I love it all yep even Opera/Classical, but............my fav is them blues. I own all that 20's and 30's stuff a lot of these old cats with just a couple records, hell one guy with just one song (Freezone).
Jimmie Rodgers the father of country music (also one of my favs) grew up in Mississippi, he has talked about them blues as a huge influense, As we know rock and roll came from them blues. The Rolling Stones, got that name from a 1950 Muddy Waters record. Pink Floyd getting that name from prewar Piedmont bluesmen PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council.
Remember the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" that bluesman they picked up was Tommy Johnson (played by Louisiana bluesman Chris Thomas King) Johnson the daddy of that Sold My Soul at them Crossroads, his song "Canned Heat" (some funky drink) the inspiration for that old rock/blues band Canned Heat, Johnson one of the fathers of those Delta Blues.
Fellow Delta bluesman Robert Johnson stold his Crossroads story from Tommy who recorded in the late 20;s, Robert in 1935.
Love this stuff
