EDIT: First weekend: 5 dead, 31 shot.

I'm visiting Chicago for the first time next week, and my friends will no doubt try to convince me to move there, so why would I want to do that?

I haven't confirmed this with actual data, but I believe it's cheaper to fly to and from Chicago since it's a hub for many airlines.

The rent appears to be much lower than Seattle, (where I live now). I'm guessing overall cost of living is lower.

I've heard the subway system is pretty good also.

You get to see tons of firefights and a casualty rate similar to Iraqi insurgency period.

Things are getting worse, although still not too bad. The cops used to keep the thugs out of the nice neighborhoods, but now the police are not taking as active of a roll as they were before all the SJW idiots started mouthing off. We are starting to see crime in areas we really never had before.

I'm aware of the crime rate, but what are the good things about it?

If you love dogshit weather, it's amazing

Go visit CM Punk and his wife AJ Lee. I'm sure they would accommodate you with some coffee.

Lots of good food, attractive young ladies, different sports franchises, concerts all year round, lakefront, and wide variety of different people.

alinea.. and maybe a decent hot dog is the only reason for me to ever visit chicago

deep dish pizza is overrated as fuck

A few good things, it isn't Detroit, New York or Cleveland and it's close to Wisconsin.

If you close your eyes and use your imagination the gunshots you hear at night may sound like fireworks

Funny, a friend of mine moved from Seattle to Chi town over a year ago...he hates it. Shitty weather, more violence, etc. He said there's cool shit (great food and music scene), but overall he was much happier back west.

You'll find traveling in and around Chicago by vehicle quite relaxing.

The weather sucks balls. But overall it's a great city and there is an amazing night life and food scene. The summers and springs make it worth it.

The cost of living isn't terrible and public transit is solid. I live on the North Side and it's a great neighborhood. Everything is walkable or easily accessed by train. There are a lot of good jobs here per capita as well.

The crime is high, but concentrated in a few neighborhoods. Once you learn where not to go, it's not a big deal.

There's a newer video of another banger getting shot while Facebook streaming on the West Side, bit more graphic too.
The fuckin' idiocy of these people. That shit is like begging to get shot. Chicago is crazy as fuck. When my cousin's from Chicago come visit they're absolutely amazed that we keep our garage open past dark and kids are allowed to play outside

Well if you live in a bad area, I can see that being surprising. I mean people in the suburbs leave garages open and kids play outside. Even in my area in the city, it's mostly families and it's safe.

I mean, you do have to be little more careful in the city with property and shit. I was surprised when I was in San Diego though, how many people chill with their doors open in apartment complexes and everyone is everyone's buddy and just wander around into other people's places like it's no big deal.

The food is awesome. There's a reason everyone there is fat
