What are some times you as a fan went against the crowd and were vindicated?

As in, when you backed a fighter not supported by the majority or downplayed by a large vocal fanbase and the results proved you right? Besides the obvious recent Cupcake stuff, I remember when Gus fans argued that Cormier fighting Jones was a waste of time and only Gus was even worthy to fight Jones... being on the Cormier side of that argument, it was great to be vindicated later when 'unworthy' DC beat Gus. Another is when at the height of Cain's supposed invincibility, I argued that Werdum and Barnett had a good chance of defeating Cain which was laughed at by many... by the time Cain actually fought Werdum, a lot of negativity had built up towards Cain causing Sherdog's opinion to shift a lot towards being more even, but it was still sweet.

What are your times where your support of an 'unworthy' fighter according to the crowd proved fruitful?

I've always rallied behind Hunto and especially after his return to the UFC but I can't remember if he was underdog or favorite in his matches

Rockhold vs Weidman

I weathered heavy abuse from irate Weidman fanboys when I explained to them pre-fight that Weidman had only ever beaten one style of fighter at the elite level (ageing strikers he could take down at will), and so had never proved he could beat a top fighter his own age and size, or beat a top fighter who could fend off his takedowns.

I pointed out that Weidman was overrated due to the 'big name' value fighters he had beaten, and that he was slow, had poor cardio, had no kicking game to speak of, and was over-reliant on takedowns.

More abuse.

And then I was proven correct in my reservations about the guy, only to be confronted with the most pathetic and hypocritical excuse campaign in MMA history on here.

After UFC 199, I'll still be right but the excuses will still be coming anyway. Is normal.

i was so sad when JDS got booed after the velasquez fight. Super sad moment and them fans are terrible

Recently:
Gus against Jones
McGregors wins at fw
Tate vs Holm
Jones vs Cormier (Jones at least lost the poll... lol)
Sonnen vs Shogun

Chris vs Anderson 1, there were ppl with shirts and jerseys of The Spider and hopping and hollering right up until the KO! The place got so quiet, the waitress asked me what happened? Loved it!

Guida - Maynard, Atlantic City.

I was pro Maynard all the way. Couldnt' stand Guida.

Guida's walkout was crazy, the place was going nuts.

Then something strange happened. By the end of the fight everyone was chanting Maynard's name along with me.

Cruz vs tj. Everyone was all about cruz being out for years and multiple surgeries destroying him.

I will repeat this when kabib comes back as well.

I knew Brandon The Truth Hurts Vera would win LHW and HW belts.

Tj dillashaw over barao
Weidman over Anderson x2
Joanna over Carla
RDA over Pettis

I was literally the only guy in the bar cheering for Anderson in the first Sonnen fight. That moment will be hard to top.

Umm so you've got to tell more lol. When Anderson tapped Sonnen were you doing your celebration dance all alone in front of everyone? That must have been awkward.

I think I yelled "Yeh! Fuck yall!"

I made an account bet against a guy that Machida would finish Thiago Silva.

That was when Machida was considered the most boring guy in MMA.
