Doesn't have to be expensive. Could be anything. Something that you bought or was passed down to you.
There's something inherently attractive about something that is finely crafted, operates efficiently, and is durable enough to use everyday and built to last a lifetime, especially in this day of mass produced products of subpar quality and planned obsolescence (Looking at you Apple Iphone charger cables). Like owning a single Winning headgear (if you train the UFC) that will last you your career. Or I remember from my days as a budding stoner how RooR bongs held a status and were touted as the pinnacle of bong craftsmanship. It's kind of why the concept of Westerns appeal to me. You're on a voyage and can only take a few things, so the stuff you bring (footwear, gun, tools, clothes) better be made to last through the elements and work when your life depends on it.
I've had some leather wallet and it's held up for years now without tears, loose stitching, and holding it's form. Something about it's rugged functionality appeals more to me than if I had a stylish brand wallet that I had to be careful with. Though I'd likely take the more expensive and better crafted wallet, but we know price doesn't always equal quality.
