What are some fight predictions that you got horribly wrong?

What's the difference between picking a fight horribly wrong vs just regular wrong?
Nobody comes close to picking them all right.
I would think horribly wrong would mean that you were very certain a fighter would win, and then he doesn't just lose, he gets dominated. Like Fedor vs Bigfoot.

Fiziev vs Gaethje. Thought Fiziev was gonna fuck him up and embarrass him badly but alas, Fiziev fought like a retard and blew his load.

You can still argue Fiziev won the first 2 rounds but whatever lol. .

He did. Rafa 1 and 2.

I predicted that Tecia Torres vs Angela Hill would be an entertaining striker-vs-striker scrap...
...but it was instead one of the most boring UFC fights of all time because Tecia secretly planned to be a wrestler rather than a striker for it, both fighters gassed out quickly because of the high altitude of Mexico City, and Tecia just lay'd-n-pray'd her way to an uneventful decision victory. Tecia's fans gave her so much shit for that boring W that Tecia apologisized profusely on social media and promised never to use that I'm-just-a-wrestler-now tactic again.

I though Condit Diaz was going to be a banger

On our way to watch the fights, I told my wife that Penn/ Edgar wouldn’t even be competitive and I wasn’t sure why they had put such a dumb fight together. Also told her Dillashaw/Barao was going to be a complete blowout. Well, I was right, just not for the guy I thought…

I had Usman beating Edwards both times by a pretty one sided fight and dec and I was wrong.

Hard to say. When I try and fail at something, I erase all evidence that I even tried.

Gonzaga vs CroCop made me look like an absolute fool in front of all my new MMA friends that I was trying to educate about the sport.

I was wrong about Vitor Belfort vs Rich Franklin. Love both guys but i thought Franklin would’ve showed up better.

I was wrong about Gaethje vs Johnson. I watched Justin early fights and WSOF career and I didn’t think he had the defense for the UFC caliber fighters. He has impressed the hell out of me!

Datsik has retard strenght and is unpredictable, so in a MMA fight I could see him catching Aleksander Emelianenko the way he caught Andrei Arlovski.
Maybe in kickboxing/Muay Thai too

But pro-boxing?? Aleks used to have great, fast hands for a HW, with a stance that even Baby Fedor would emulate. Aleks has good boxing for a MMA HW, and Datsik is just a brawler with good kicks, he's going to get used as a punching bag for calling the younger Emelianenko a prison rooster all those years ago.

Ok, but that was obviously a fluke though, with HWs there's always a chance that a huge swing will touch, 9 times out of 10 Aleks wins via pure technique...
I they had an immediate rematch right after Aleks was OK again, let's say at the ring in the local boxing club, just the 2 of them, no distractions, Datsik would get whopped

.......Speaking of: can't wait for Arlovski vs Werdum, this is going to be such an exciting battle of Sambo vs BJJ at HW, and of course of UFC vs PRIDE!!!
Plus Fabricio just joined the Chute Boxe academy, you can bet his stand-up is going to look much better; and with AA's excellent boxing skills, this fight is a guaranteed barn-burner on the ground and on the feet.

Werdum might be a ground wizard, but AA is no slouch either... his achilles-lock on the Maine-iac Tim Sylvia was just a couple years ago (that 3rd fight of them was so damn boring, at least I can take confort in knowing that there won't be a AA/Sylvia 4, never, not in 6 years, never.)

(sorry 56kfags, get gud)
Plus, in his last fight Arlovski KO'd another ADCC wiz in Pe De Pano,

Still...
I'm picking Werdum for the win, AA has more experience but the Brazilian has been swimming with the PRIDE sharks while Arlovski was taking it easy in the UFC.
And PRIDE will always be better than the UFC.
Our children in 15 years will still agree on that will browsing futur-Sherdog directly into their brains while flying on their hoverboards

Pfft. Plenty of times. Let's see if I can remember a few. I remember thinking that Leben was going to send Silva back to Japan where the competition was easier. Arlovski's 2nd fight with Tim and also his fight with Fedor. I thought he would put up a much tougher fight against Fedor and probably win. Marquardt's shitle tot against Silva. I remember telling people at the paper view party that Marquardt was five time king of Pancrase and was a tough challenger and Silva just handled him. There are too many to remember.

I guess my question to you at the time would be

What are you gauging how good whittaker is off of? A fight against yoel he should have lost? A win over jacare? (kelvin did it too) A finish over brunson? (Everyones done it)

Makes feel the same way about people who think hill has a chance in hell against jiri.
Kelvin fought worse version with Jacare and could go either way

Griffin vs. Edgar, Frankie's debut.
Griffin was already established, had beaten some big names, and I had never heard of Frankie. By the end of the fight Frankie had another fan and won an awesome scrap.
