What are Sergei's chances against Jon?

Very hard to tell. Jon's a very different fighter to Blaydes, Tuivasa and Black Beast but we've only seen about a minute of him in the last few years.

It's a good point about Jon needing to end the fight early. Almost everyone thought he would try to win 5 round decisions at HW against people who can end the fight at any moment. It's not a great idea and Jon was smart enough to realize that and lucky enough that Gane didn't train defensive wrestling.
I don't even see the logic in Jones wanting to go 5 rounds at HW, lmao, I'm with you on that. That's 25 mins of only needing to take one shot to go night night. His game plan should be the same every time out, work a shot the first chance it's available, and finish it on the ground as fast as possible while taking as little damage as possible. He won't last in a fire fight at HW. He mixes up enough that's he's still giving people problems on the feet, but his physical gifts aren't what they were at LHW, and these dudes only need one. I suspect, whoever he fights next, he attempts a TD very quickly.

Im a bit concerned that Blaydes was outstriking him before getting caught. How is he going to perform in a fight where he doesnt get an early knockout? It seems to be about pure power and not technique with him.

Not great. I'd love to see Jon get slept, but at this point, I'm not confident we will ever see it.

Many think Jon steamrolling Gane like he did was purely Gane shitting the bed, but I think it was a great win. I don't think there's a HW out there I'd pick over Jones atm.

I don’t think he has a great chance. In my opinion, that need to dominate a fighter at his own game is null & void now that he is dancing with the most powerful hitters. Just like Gane, I see Jon ending it early and easily. This isn’t an unfocused Jones clearing out a division twice over. His next fight(s) are for the undisputed best ever. The culmination of his working career. All business.

Pretty decent. Jones looked slow as fuck and sloppy against Gane, but that doesn't matter when your opponent is too arrogant to believe in training his BJJ. Jones always looks hittable and rough against tall and rangy strikers because of his relatively poor boxing. He doesn't have much of a jab, so he relies a lot on "accidental" eyepokes to maintain his distance and prevent guys from closing the distance against him.
Then again, Jones is one of the best to ever do it and if anyone can beat Sergei, it's probably going to be him.

Blaydes was outstriking Sergei?? I think you gotta watch the fight again. Blaydes landed a shot here and there but was getting clearly outstruck. Sergei has very good technique as well

About 3.5% chance
Jones' fight iq, fight experience, wrestling skills etc are too much for him.
Jones has a huge arsenal of weapons at his disposal. Pavlovich only has a tiny chance due to his knockout power. He will be out skilled. Jones has also proven to have a pretty decent chin.

This isn't Tai Tuivasa we are talking about. This is Jon Jones, one the greatest mixed martial arts fighter ever

Jon needs a diet first. Dude did not look in shape during his photoshoot with Izzy.

Will depend on if he can stop the Jones TD
And that's a big IF
If he can, he will likely win

Jon fought the best hw striker in the ufc and made him tap.there is no way anyone should doubt him at hw

That's exactly why we should have questions lol. He fought the best striker and wanted no part of the standup. If someone can force him to stand up for at least a round we'll see how good Jones really is at HW.

Fighters have been trying it for well over a decade at this point, we've seen what happens.

How could anyone think Gane is the best HW striker?

Gane and Pav have common opponents (Tai and Black Beast) who Gane took multiple rounds to finish (and nearly got KO’d by Tai) while Sergei came in and steamrolled both in 30 seconds without taking a single hit.

There is no world where Gane is a superior striker to Pavlovich. He’s quicker and may have better cardio. But Pavlovich has the reach, hand speed, and fuck you power whereas Gane doesn’t.

Sergei likely wins. But few understand what they are watching and Jon won in the 1st round of his last fight so reality and perception are wildly different right now

Jones won't be able to bully him around and steer him around in the clinch. He would be forced to bang with Sergei and I don't see that ending well for 2023 Jones.

..and then Jones dominates the guy and adds one more name to his cartel of "This is the guy everyone was saying that would defeat Jones". People need to understand that Jones brain is wired differently, it isn't only his attributes but also how his brain works. Like Messi in football, Federer in Tennis or a Jokic in Basketball. He can lose, sure he can, he can have a bad night, of course but that is against a Cristiano Ronaldo, a Nadal or a Curry, not against a brute like Pavlovich that uses his head to hold his ears.
