Could he box Jon's ears off in the first round like the others??

Like many sluggers ( Francis, DC, OSP and Rampage) Pav has a chance to potentially knocking Jones out early in the fight.

We really havent seen much from Pav, but if that doesnt happen, Jones will likely do him worse than Reem did.

Definitely an interesting fight after Stipe

i'm not even confident he can outstrike Jon. everybody he knocks out are guys who either allow him to stand in the pocket while they shell up, or invite him into the pocket because they want to slug it out too. he hasn't knocked anyone out who can move around. the thing here is can Jon move around like that at 250lbs? remains to be seen, but we at least know he can do it because he's done it at LHW. kicking Sergei's base out with his oblique kicks and collapsing the pocket into a clinch when Sergei comes in on him.

i don't really trust Sergei's grappling. with how easily Econoreem handled him on the feet, clinch, and on the ground he'd have to make an enormous jump in skill since then.

Good chances. He's a natural hw. Hits hard, tough, prime years

Piggybacking off of a point you brought up, prior to the Gane fight I saw a vid some fan had posted during fight week, where Jones was just casually strolling to wherever he needed to be, and that man was hobbled, had a pronounced limp. I was curious after that, and when he was freaking about about the tape on his foot prior to walking into the cage, it all became clear. His Chael foot is fucked, and he knows it. The Gane fight didn't answer any real questions about it, bc we DID see him move with a degree of speed...but it was basically the only move he made in the fight, really early on, when he moved to take Gane's back. I'm not sold that he isn't aware that he can't move the way he wants to, especially with the added weight, and that the way that fight played out was best case scenario for him, probably understanding it needs to end fast. I'm anxious to see how he does against someone who can prevent the TD, whether his movement will become a problem for him. As time has passed, I think his foot is both why he didn't fight for a long time, and why he's wanting to retire so badly.

If jbj wanted to fight him, it would have already happened.

Jones won't be able to bully him around and steer him around in the clinch. He would be forced to bang with Sergei and I don't see that ending well for 2023 Jones.

Out of all the fighters in the ufc, sergei has the best chance to knock jones out. Jones would be the favorite.

It's a good point about Jon needing to end the fight early. Almost everyone thought he would try to win 5 round decisions at HW against people who can end the fight at any moment. It's not a great idea and Jon was smart enough to realize that and lucky enough that Gane didn't train defensive wrestling.
