Depends which type of Conor comes back. If he’s laser focused, then most fights in the top 10 are still winnable for him. He wouldn’t be favored, but they are winnable. The fights with the lowest probability of victory, would be against Tsarukyan and Gamrot.
Most importantly, he needs to drop that boxing stance and stop trying to walk people down. Go back to being bouncy and threatening with counter attacks
No way at that time they would have let McGregor risk losing to Frankie. The UFC wouldn't even take the risk at UFC 189. They chose Mendes who has lost to Aldo twice and very recently over Frankie who had 3 or 4 wins at FW since his first Aldo fight. Made no sense giving Mendes an interim title shot unless the UFC was certain he would lose. They should've let Frankie fight Conor at 155 instead of feeding him to contenders at BW.
All "old man at the pub" and "NBA mascot" jokes aside (and assuming his rape case goes away), who is left in the UFC that Conor could get a win against if/when he comes back next year (if he ever comes back, but it's not happening this year)?
trilogy with Nate - said he'll come back to the UFC after boxing
Paddy - I think Conor could dust his chin inside 1 round
Diego Sanchez - he's a free agent now, maybe UFC can bring back for a one-off
Tony Ferguson - should be retired now, but if he's still fighting MAYBE Conor would beat him nowadays
Colby - most likely would ragdoll Conor, but McCracken could find his chin early
BJ Penn - bring him out of retirement for a superfight vs another shot fighter
Masvidal - could be coerced out of his recent retirement for one more big money fight (that should have happened 2-3 years ago). Jorge probably beats him, but he looked pretty shot in his last few fights, Conor could eke out a decision here.
Chris Weidman - if Conor wants to go up to MW, that's his golden ticket. Weidman most likely wrestlefucks Conor silly and chokes him stiff, but if Conor touches his chin...
Obviously some of these are only half-serious, but if Conor comes back against high ranked opponents he's going be publicly humiliated again.
Lol at Colby and Teh Chris, if you’re gonna call those fights winnable on the basis that Conor might find their chin at some point then I guess every fight is winnable for him
That’s fine but the thread title is “winnable fights”, so if the bar for “winnable” is just anyone that Conor is physically capable of knocking out of the stars align in his favor then the list would be much longer than this and probably useless because it would include so many people. No, I already said a win over Colby is highly unlikely, but Colby has pillow fists so there's no chance he sends Conor to the shadow realm, he'd just put Conor on the mat and probably keep him there for 25 minutes, so maybe a less humiliating (and merciful) beating than DP or Khabib. He'd just be getting wrestlefucked by a bigger guy that everyone expects him to lose to anyway without really getting hurt much.
