What are current Aspinall chances in battles with the best HWs in history?

There he is! It had been like 15 minutes since you'd brought up that decade old fight.

Lmao, hes really holding that fight against Tom.

Just dont tell him that JDS got subbed in under 2 mins in the regionals 4 years before he was putting Cain to sleep and lighting up Carwin. Or that Reem was slept multiple times before he became Uber. Or that Werdum had multiple losses and was pretty much viewed as a solid journeyman until almost 20 fights into his career. Or that Ngannou lost his second fight. Or that Stipe got his ass beat by Stefan Struve then was being hailed as "GOAT UFC HW" 5 years later. Etc etc....

Cain L
Fedor L
Ngannou L
Werdum L
DC 50/50
JDS W
Jones 50/50
Ubereem L
Stipe L
Lesnar W
Gane W
Carwin W
CroCop W
Barnett W

I feel like peak JDS was always a better fighter than Stipe and Werdum and before his slide, he crushed both of them. Its weird to me how everyone kinda forgets how good JDS was because he hung around for far too long.

Otherwise I agree with people, im not confident Aspinall beats or loses to Cain, Stipe, JDS, Ngannou, Cormier, Jones etc. Hes clearly talented enough that he could beat them but he could lose too...we really haven't seen him fight guys on that level but hes smashed guys in dynamic fashion who were maybe just 1 or 2 steps below like Volkov and Blaydes in insanely impressive ways.

I'll play. Not going to think too deeply into these match-ups though.

Cain, Fedor, Ngannou, Werdum, DC, JDS, Jones, Ubereem, Stipe, Lesnar, Gane, Carwin, CroCop, Barnett?

Cain - Loss
Ngannou - Loss
DC - Loss
JDS - Loss
Stipe - Loss
Werdum - Win
Ubereem - Win
Lesnar - Win
Gane - Win
Carwin - Win
CroCop - Win
Barnett - Win

7-5 record.

For Fedor, I'm actually leaning Tom but it's probably 50/50 here.
vs peak Jones?

Current Asp vs peak Cain, Fedor, Ngannou, Werdum, DC, JDS, Jones, Ubereem, Stipe, Lesnar, Gane, Carwin, CroCop, Barnett?

I personally favor him clearly only over Lesnar (didnt like to be hit), Barnett (bad striking) and maybe Carwin.
Agreed, but we will find out if the hype is real after the Gane fight. He has gained huge clout through being mentioned in the same sentence as Jones for over a year, lets now see if he can back it up.

I dont think Gane is any kind of new test for Tom. We've just watched him get an arguable gift decision over a guy Tom steamrolled. I dont see any reason to automatically assume he'd beat Pav or Blaydes either given his lack of power and grappling weakness.

If he will beat Gane, we can talk about his elite abilities. Today his best wins are Pavlo, Volkov and Blaydes (1-1), so he dont beat any elite fighters.

Why does beating Gane change your mind? What's Gane's best win?

He has to nullify it for a few minutes across a 5 rounder, with all rounds starting standing too. How big of a stand up window do you figure someone with Toms power, range and striking ability would need to send Brock into orbit?
We saw in the Blaydes fight when Tom's worried about a TD from a strong grappler he simply gets even more reckless than usual.

Tom's been fairly successful so far, but he's the type of fighter who tries to force a KO. He's not some patient striker at all.

I agree that he can be kind of reckless and overaggressive, not sure how much of a factor that would be against Brock though. If hes gonna be made to pay for it its likely to be against a heavy hitter who can catch him with a big shot during a firefight.

All I have been seeing from him are wild sloppy 1-2's which he lands because he's faster than his opponent.

Maybe he will prove to be better in the future but I don't see him beating the best hw's I've seen.

Tom crowds fighters with aggressiveness trying to land a KO shot and so far everybody just tries to counter him in the firefight he's asking for.

Brock meanwhile would duck and shoot in that situation.

Crocop'd have just sprawled him then fractured his face.

I feel like peak JDS was always a better fighter than Stipe

in their first match Stipe lost by dumbly stiking to a wrestling based gameplan that it wasn't working while he was winning the stand up exchanges.
idk if that was already past his prime JDS but it was for sure not already peaked Stipe.

Even if Brock takes him down though, what then? how long does he keep him down? a few mins? until the end of the round then they start standing again? or does he finish him there and then?

This is what I mean about Tom needing a much smaller window to end the fight. It'd take him much less time to end the fight standing than it would for Brock to end it on the ground. Brock was just too much of a liability standing for it to not be a massively risky fight for him.

I'm not saying you're necessarily wrong, but if Tom, Ngannou, Gane or Jon got slept by a 14-7 5'8 wrestler who was considered washed this place would explode and we'd never hear the end of it.

idk what you are talking about, do you mean Gonzaga?
if it's the case the topic states "at their peaks".

But yeah the Gonzaga loss was rough too.

Like I said, i'm not even suggesting Tom necessarily beats Cro Cop, just that he (or Ngannou, Gane, Jon) would not be let off the hook ever for a loss that bad.

If you think the 2-1-2 he landed on Pavlovich was "wild and sloppy", you legit don't know what you're watching. I'm not even saying it to be a dick. I think there's a a couple of his KO's where you could say he got a bit wild. But there's also some that are literally textbook on how you throw in the pocket and land first.
