Current Asp vs peak Cain, Fedor, Ngannou, Werdum, DC, JDS, Jones, Ubereem, Stipe, Lesnar, Gane, Carwin, CroCop, Barnett?

I personally favor him clearly only over Lesnar (didnt like to be hit), Barnett (bad striking) and maybe Carwin.

Lol wtf is Gane doing in there?

As for the rest, i'd slightly favour him over Carwin, who was pretty slow and stationery and had a terrible gas tank, although it wouldnt be without significant risk considering Carwins power and Toms reckless tendencies. I'd also assume he could probably nullify Brocks wrestling enough to catch him standing.

With actual genuine all time elite guys like prime Cain, Fedor, DC, JDS etc its hard to say because his career so far has consisted of easily steamrolling guys who arent at their level. We dont know his ceiling.

Who do you think truly tests him worldwide? I agree with just about all of your post, but HW is in such a dire state that I can't think of many names Tom can beat (which he hasn't already) to make me place him up there with the greats.

Malykin? Reug Reug? Big Frank is going back to boxing for one last one by the look of it then probably retiring, a win over the lineal champ is the only one that sticks out in my mind, it would mean more than a win over Jon probably would have at the end of the day.

Can't answer because nobody has given him any trouble yet, and that's either because the competition is so lacking or he is that good. We'll see eventually as long as he stays in his prime.

What I will say is that all the names you mentioned had something exceptional about them, or several exceptional attributes. Aspinall just has a fast and powerful 1-2 and the rest of his game is solid.

Jon and Frank are the only opponents that could have elevated him to that level imo. He could RD1 Gane, Almeida and Lewis over the next 12 months and it would barely do anything to raise his stock and all time standing. The division is just that lacking in big name quality challengers. Hes in a tough position.

I was into it until Gane showed up on the list of "historically great HWs."

Fuckin lol

Edit, my bad... "best historic HWs." Same damn thing IMO.

Cain 50/50 (Cain is a bad matchup but also didn't like to get hit)
Fedor L
Ngannou L
Werdum W
DC L
JDS W
Jones L
Ubereem W
Stipe 50/50
Lesnar W
Gane W
Carwin W
CroCop W

Beast boy Barnett whoops his ass.

But yeah on a serious tip, Cain absolutely wrecks him, No shame in that honestly because cain should be favoured to beat Any MMA fighter to ever step in the cage.

Everyone else he has a chance to win against.Ubereem Lesnar, Stipe, Francis, and jones would probably be his harder match ups. 60/40 against him. the rest he'd be favoured to win in my eyes

hard to say because he has no rivals. HW has become terrible simply because by the time someone who looks good comes along, the top dog is almost always old and ready to go anyway. you don't get Mirko vs Fedor or Fedor vs Big Nog types of fights because there is never a prime for prime rivalry happening in that division. hell, even Arlovski vs Sylvia rivalry was good simply because both guys were peaking at the same time.

the same thing is kind of happening at LHW. Pereira is getting old, he's closer to the end than the middle of his career. Jiri isn't old but he has the kind of style that can age like milk over night. Jan is old. Rakic's career seems crippled by his knee injury. Jamahal Hill's career seems to be following Rakic's except worse since it seems he didn't take enough time off to properly heal. Reyes is on a resurgence but he also has eaten quite a few brutal KOs, some to questionable opposition (lookin at you Ryan Spann). Oezdemir is a gatekeeper at this point. so really, the only young and unhindered LHWs that could challenge Ankalaev is Carlos Ulberg and Rountree.

I predict that Ulberg will hold the title at somepoint simply by being a fresh body.

lets say ankalaev retired in the next 2 fights, Who at LHW has a fighting future that will last another 5 years? Only ulberg

Zhang, 26

I know Anthony Smith is mid, but he demolished him like no one else.

He has a lot of losses but most of them were early (he turned pro at like 16)

Way more impressive than Ulberg imo.

you think Zhang is going to be a title contender? he looks like a MW, plus it's hard for me to get behind a guy who is a striker that has been chin checked as many times as he has. and he's a brawler. i don't know how he looks more impressive than Ulberg who is beating top 10 LHWs and only has a single loss. while Zhang's best win is Anthony Smith in his retirement fight. the other 3 wins he has are vs cab drivers, plus 5 of his 6 losses came by stoppage. the majority being KO/TKOs.

Yeah the Zhang guy has a future for sure. He's not in the title picture yet, but could be fighting for the title in a year or two

In the context of 'Who at LHW has a fighting future that will last another 5 years?', Zhang is it. He's literally the only one that's young and showing potential. Even Ulberg himself is pushing 35.

Of course, new blood can come in at any time and shake things up but we're talking about in this moment.

How do you figure he beats Jones. Jones beat a very similar fighter in DC twice in every area of the fight. Cain never faced anyone like Jones.
