My friend has a 4 year old boy that really likes to watch all the UFC events (even the free cards). He seems to like UFC a lot better than WWE. One of my friend's friend's wife straight up told him that his child should not be watching such a violent sport so early. What age have you gotten your kids into the sport?

This will be good

let them watch k1/pride until 17, then transition to ufc so they're impervious to the just bleeds and tapout

My earliest memories of "UFC" go back to when I was about 5 or 6.

My daughter is 8 months old. We have a deal for every round we watch I have to watch 5 minutes of sesame street.

I tapped out to the count in 1.....2....3....4...5.....5 minutes ha ha ha

I don't think a 4 year old should watch 15 or 25 minutes of 2 guys laying on top of each other and humping, cause there's no action in the UFC.

To answer your question, I think it's fine.

As soon as a kid can be interested in watching MMA for more than 15 minutes, they're ready to watch it.

My nephew watches "da fights" (always followed by a grunt/growl and a boxing stance).

He was a rough houser beforehand anyways. 5 years old now, he likes Ronda ("she's maaaad about it" when she walks out according to him) and the Chinese guy (yushin okami)

This is a great question. There is really no denying that the sport is very violent at times. In all honestly if the content was judged by the same criteria as a movie it would have an R rating for sure (especially fights like BJ/Stevenson). So I guess I would say whatever age you feel comfortable letting your kid watch a Freddy movie?

I saw UFC 1 when it first aired. I was like 11 or 12 at the time. Thinking back, I was probably too young. But that's just me. Every parents is going to agree or disagree when it comes to this type of situation.

As long as a child is able to understand that the people they are watching are professionals and it is not ok to attempt to do what they are doing with their friends I don't think the age is an issue. The issue is the parents being able to explain why those guys are fighting and why it's not alright for the child to do it. In all reality the UFC is probably less violent than some of the cartoons that I see out now.

Whenever they want. My 6 year old daughter has been watching fights with me for a while now

Off the bat. Gotta take responsibility for the violence.

Edit: that is, give it context and demystify it. IMO any age can learn this.

I have a nephew who is 5 and he watches from time to time.

Lol, this is actually true. Bellator is much more exciting. Most fighters there actually fight
